I used the HAB for my DD from birth to around 18 mths. Didn't use it much after 10 mths when she found her legs! I found the advantage of the HAB was that when she was tiny she would face inwards and be wrapped so closely it was like being in the womb. When she was a bit older I'd face her outwards and that's the only position we ever used from then on. She loved both. The outwards facing one is much like the other carriers you mentioned and didn't 'hug' her much.

I loved the ergo infant insert for DS, but he was a june baby, and I liked how snug he was in it. And it was great, if he fell asleep in it, I could just pop him down in his bassinet with the insert still behind him and he would stay asleep.

My new baby is due in summer, and I will probably not use the ergo for it... But I will have it there as an option...

i have an ergo which i use for DS (still). he loves it and i find it really supprtive etc.
I looked into getting a newborn insert, but they werent really recommended highly by friends i have who have used them. they thought if i wanted i could roll a cloth nappy and achieve the same thing...
anyway, i bought a close carrier which i will use for this bub as a newborn and then i will have the ergo for later... (or another option to use in any case)
