How common is babywearing by you?

i have worn oscar in his ring sling (i have 3) every day since he was born, although for less time now. he is 2 and 15 kgs and i find it still very easy and so yummy. he will often want to walk so i pop it over his head to his tummy and hold on to his 'tail' and when he is tired pop him back up. i only bought a stroller a couple of months ago, i just didn't find the need for it, and have used it a few times - like when we went to the show to put all the 'stuff' in but i used the sling to carry oscar. i have a funny story about slings and prams, i pulled up and parked in the baby & prams section at the exact same time as another mum, i put the sling on put oscar in it (took about 20 seconds) and went into the shops, was in there for about 10 minutes, got back to the car and the woman was still putting her pram up and baby in it as i put oscar back in the car and drove off. needless to say she said to me 'i need one of those' and i gave her the info on them
in answer to your question, though, i don't think they are very comman but that's ok with me i'm not here to be a trendy mum just a stressfree happy one!

Dylan is only 5.5 weeks but I have been carrying him everywhere -- mostly because he is a bit colicky and won't lay down during the day. We love our ring sling, although lately he has become a bit fidgety in it. I have put him into a bjorn, which he seems very happy with at the moment. I am also thinking about getting an ergo after reading so much good stuff about it.

I am not sure if it just me, or Dylan, but I find that we both get VERY sweaty in both carriers. Anyone else? Is the ergo better for this? ANy advice?

I agree with Tracey, who cares if people think you are weird if you have a happy and settled baby. Because I catch a lot of public transport I see quite a few mums wearing baby carriers... all different styles. I love my pram but especially in winter it was much nicer having my baby snuggled up close rather than out in the pram. Wearing it has also helped to shed extra kilos. I think though that you have to be kinda fit to wear them when your baby gets older but if you wear them from the start then you body will adapt.

WOW !! its much less bulky than the ergo !! what colour have you got ... pity i just bought an ergo not long ago .. i would have got one of these ...

but if i get preggers .... who knows ...

I wore Zyon daily in Bali, it wasnt too hot either, he was in the HAB, with a thin singlet & a nappy, then I just pulled the 2 sides up over his butt & shoulders, but didnt lift the pocket part up over him & he slept brilliantly & was happy in there!!! Including at airport & on the plane/customs etc...
