hug a bub and.... TMI Q!!!

ladies,

now just what do you do when your lil ones is happily sleeping in the hug a bub, and you need to go to the potty to do a number 2?!

if i take her out, she will wake... not sure if i can go in there with her

ow help!!! (would just be nice to know if you can do a number 2 squirm with the hug a bub on, would also be nice to know that i am not the only one about to attempt it?!)

I went with her in there. It was good practice at overcoming my shyness in that area with her sleeping in the sling for nowadays when she is not asleep and not getting the hang of number 2's at all with the toilet, and is thus stood 3 inches from me commenting...

Tangent, sorry! But LOL - do you deal with this ok, Bec? I find it a bit embarassing atm because whenever I go to the loo (regardless of what I'm doing) I keep the door open so I can keep an eye on Natty. She always follows me in and asks, 'what's that?' to... erm... EVERYTHING that she can see... Trying to be open and honest and answer calmly but omg, it is kinda embarassing.

ive overcome that with my dd... i 'try' to sneak off to the loo when i can, but sometimes i just go.. she stands there and passes me the 'paper'. i think when she is past the toilet training age, ill encourage her to respect peoples privacy in the loo.... lol

I am ok with it now. I have had moments earlier on, but i was a single parent for 2 years and when there's no-one else and never going to BE anyone else to watch them while you get some privacy you sort of get used to not having any. I try to answer her questions as honestly as possible - her DAD is embarassed when she refers to her or my vagina, but i see that as his problem. It's not a bomb or a disease just a body part, however freaked out by its proper name he is, i wouldn't dream of avoiding telling her the words "elbow" or "toes" so i just get on with it. I must admit it's a bit weird having a toddler jumping up and down and squealing because "mama went peepee! YAAY!" but i guess i'm getting used to that too.

Yeah, I am trying not to feel embarassed. Mostly it is my insecurity about my weight that embarasses me most - when she points to my thigh/bottom and asks what's that, I tell her that's mummy's oversized bottom

Stupid. I just have to get over it.

I know it's hard in our culture but try NOT to focus on your weight to her. She believes you to be the perfect woman - you're all she knows and she adores you. I once told DD "what's that" was mama's fat thighs and she spent the rest of the day pinching her OWN thighs and saying sadly "all fat now"

Felt like crap i can tell you!

I don't want DD to be overweight for her physical health, but if she IS ever overweight i want her to recognise her worth, attractivness and right to Be no matter how heavy she is. You might feel your fat is ugly, but YOU are not fat, you are a LOT more than that, and you, ALL of you, however much that is, is what your DD wants and needs and loves.

I generally go with "That's mama's leg, where's DD's leg?" so she can point and try to keep my own opinions on said thighs out of it now. I can imagine that if *I* am her idea of "perfect" womanhood, as every mama starts off being to her child, it must be quite a shock to realise mama herself actually dislikes this perfect form. It's a confused message if the person you KNOW is perfect tells you they aren't.

She comes out with some hilarious stuff sometimes. A few weeks ago she came into the bedroom first thing with her bedtime lamb (favourite ever teddy) and said "ee's getting is milk". I said "where does bedtime lamb get his milk from?" and she replied "Out ee's tiny little boobs" then, pulling back the duvet to get a good look, "DD and beemlamb's got little boobs but mama's got big big BIG boobs!" LOL.

Yep, I've been able to do 'everything' whilst wearing a HAB. Bubs is safe and sound and doesn't need to worry. They're supported so well that you don't need to hold/support bubs and you can just finish what you're doing and wash your hands and take on the world again.
