Hi Ladies,
I'm new to the forums. I have 3 different slings. The Hab, nurser sling, and ergo. The problem, I cant get any of them to work. The hab I just could never get it on, the sling works if she is asleep (she i is 16 weeks old on Tuesday), and the ergo she screams before I can get her in it. I must be doing something wrong but since I know no one who wears babies I don't know. Any ideas? I don't want to pay more money for another sling, surely something I have will work.
Thanks,
Steph
Hi Steph, I have a HAB and DD generally likes it, she will sleep really well in it. I found it tricky to get on the first couple of times but with practice I have managed to master it and can now get it on rather quicly in the middle of a shopping centre. She is generally crying before I get her in but with some jiggling and swaying and singing she will settle and fall asleep. Can't comment on the other 2 slings you have. What is it that you find tricky with the HAB?
I'm not sure if you're still checking this thread, but I thought I'd reply.
What is the problem you are having with the HAB? I found I had to try quite a few times to get it right, I watched the DVD a lot. The key seemed to be making sure it was tight enough, to do that you pull the shoulder pieces tight before wrapping it around your waist. Also, I'm not sure if you've tried the outward facing position now that your DD is four months, but I found that my DD preferred that one - she often complains and struggles to get loose if I have her facing inwards.
We just stuck with it until it worked - I was pretty determined. Lots of trial and error, and I'm glad we did now, as she loves it and it makes my life easier.
Steph, I have a pocket sling which is a bit similar to a HAB. I didn't use it much with DS1 as I struggled to get it on properly, but now I use it all the time. My tip is to practice with a teddy bear that is a similar size to your little one. Do it over and over. It's much easier to do it with a teddy as it doesn't move and it will also save your DD getting upset. Then when you are confident, try it with DD. You can do it, just keep trying - if it doesn't seem right, reread the instructions and just do something a bit different next time. Suddenly it will click. I know with my sling the thing I was mostly doing wrong was not putting him right on the seam.
