But I think that is just a little too much work, my boy is really impatient and I think he would get cross before I tied him in, plus it looks a little bulkier than the hotsling or peanut shell. I am pretty much decided on either the peanut shell or the hotsling, I just cannot decide between the two, I cannot really see much difference between the two except it seems I can pick up the hotsling a little cheaper. I am also unsure what to do about the sizing whether I am better to go for the one that will just fit or the one that is slightly bigger. Anymore thoughts greatly appreciated.
Hi! Yep, I still love it and highly recommend it. As for the sizing, if you are a borderline, I would go for the smaller one, as it does tend to get a little loose with continuous use if you don't get a chance to wash it - its not that much that you really notice it, but once you wash it and use it again, you do notice that it's a bit firmer kwim? I think the mei tai's are good, but for ease of use and time it takes to get it on, the hotsling wins hands down. It is surprising how secure it does feel and I've never had an incident where he's fallen out of it - even when he tries to throw a tantrum LOL.
Ha ha I've just started using one of those ring sling things! Jesse's nearly 1 & I only pulled it out about 2 weeks ago! It was given to me when I was pg, but I forgot about it!
I wish I'd used it earlier now!! Its a life saver!!
Do you guys find a pouch-type sling (peanut shell, jazzsling, hotsling) works better or worse than a ring sling? I bought a ring sling before DS was born and used it a little bit when he was a newborn but always struggled to get the hang of it. Now he is 5 months old I have been using it around the house again with him in the hip carry. It's really convenient for getting on and off quickly but he doesn't feel as secure as in his Ergo and I still struggle a bit sometimes working out how to pull the fabric through the rings the right way. Also with a big 5 month old (about 9kg and tall) would you mostly use them in the hip carry or are there other positions you can use? I liked what they said on their website about being able to adjust the sling if they are leaning back in the hip carry.
Oh and can you breastfeed an older child in this type of sling? I think he is too big for the "cradle hold" but maybe I could swing him around to the front a bit more from the hip hold?
My DS is 1 next week. I mostly use it in the hip carry, but he will lay back for BF as well. I do find I need to support his head, but thats easy when I can still walk around with a free hand!
I like that I can just pull the hanging bit to tighten it as I'm going. I just pull the rings to loosen it. I find it the easiest out of the ones I've tried. (Only had one other type though, the carrier on the front & cross over back type.
I've also had him sitting at the front of me too.
