1 y.o throwing items out of cot.. is it a phase?

The last few days DD has started throwing everything out of her cot. I put her to bed and out goes the blankets, dummy and her dora. Shes not upset at all doing this. It could be just a developmental thing, as shes begun taking things out of draws and putting them somewhere else (eg, the bath). So is it just a phase??

doesnt worry me too much.. just, she goes to sleep much quicker with these items with her.

Just wait till she starts throwing things out of the bath !! Perfectly normal behaviour too, but personally I start to get a tad annoyed when the floor is almost as wet as the bath!

Yep, DD did this, I just ignored it and kept putting them back in before bed time, and she has stopped doing it, about 2 weeks later.

Happening here too. I could live without the sandwiches on the floor but apparently all food tastes better once it has left the high chair tray and been picked up again by mum.

Yep lol which is why Jazz only has her fitted sheet in her cot. When she first started doing it, her cot was still next to our bed, so everything would end up hitting me in the head. So now she gets nothing If i do put something in there, she'll throw it out.
Not that it really matters since once she's awake enough to throw things around, she won't be going back to sleep anyway (we put her down asleep, she isnt the self-settling type ). Just means less for me to tidy up haha!

Amy, haha, that made me laugh! Jazz always tips everything off her plate and eats it off the table/floor no idea why it tastes better like that, but apparently it does!!!

Hehe I could have written this post! I have been finding random things in random places for a few weeks now (my DS is around the same age as your DD), and it was hilarious until I lost my phone for a week! DS puts things away in cupboards and drawers and the bath too! Bet he won't be this tidy when he's 15.

My cousin says it's a phase. DS does throw everything out of his cot except one doll that he normally goes to sleep with. I view it as him protesting that he has to go to sleep. He's never stayed still enough to go to sleep under the covers and fell over in a gro bag, so he's normally asleep in a bare cot - just make sure he's dressed warmly enough.

Yes, they only tend to mention the cute and/or exciting milestones in books etc. All my 3 went through this phase... you'd think my 15yo was still in it the way her room looks most days!

hahaha Tish.. i too have found some things in odd places. Just today, i found some nappy rash cream in the cup cupboard. lol

Yesterday she somehow managed to stash a PEN in her bed, and when I heard she was awake went in there to find some lovely artwork on her sheets

BTW, the hitting me in the head was kind of funny since it was stuffed toys, all I could do was laugh cos she thought she was so clever at aiming LMAO! The first time it happened I kind of got a stream of toys one after the other clonking me in the head and I was asleep so it was like *clonk* "huh... oh must have been nothing ... " *clonk* "... what? why is there a ...." *clonk* "toy... ?? hey! Jazz! stop it!"

The first time it happened I kind of got a stream of toys one after the other clonking me in the head and I was asleep so it was like *clonk* "huh... oh must have been nothing ... " *clonk* "... what? why is there a ...." *clonk* "toy... ?? hey! Jazz! stop it!"

And MM - yes, completely natural phase. My DS does it whenever he's 'over' being in bed... LOL It's funny to walk in and see everything on the floor!
