Well just wanted some info on what is normal behaviour for a ten mnth old..
My 10mnth old DS, is fullon, and i mean full on :unsure: :unsure: anyhow, he does not sit still during the day for a minute, just does not stop. is this normal? if i leave the room he screams and crawls after me, he just loves me being close. he is only quiet when he has his 2 big sleeps a day, 1 morn and 1 arvo, both about 1.5hrs each.. cannot read hima book as he doesnt sit still. He is on 3 good size solids, 3 bottles per day. has 6 teeth, crawling, standing,s o all milestones great, can say the odd word, da da , the dogs name etc.. anyhow he is just full on, even in the pram, it needs to be moving otherwise he cracks it. Sleeps great at night, like 11-12hrs, maybe he is worn out.
Even the childcare ctr today commented, said that they have never seen a bbay that age on the go so much,a nd he doesnt stop .. should i be concerned.. could there be an underlying problem which may develop. or is this normal behaviour especially for a boy?
Hi Maggie. I wouldn't be too concerned as yet. As you said he is reaching all his milestones easily and seems to be doing well developmentally. He may well just be a full on boy, my BF had one, and then he gave up all his day sleeps at 18mo! She was exhausted! If you are worried see your Dr or child health nurse.
Maggie, both my boys have been pretty much the same. Jack loved books and would sit still for them, but that would be the only time. Tom doesn't even do that well. I think it is normal, we just got the active ones! Maybe one day they will be sports stars and support us in a nice lifestyle!
I remember Hailey being the same - she would always get the comments "she's so alert" and "so active" etc. I was worried she didn't sit still for long enough and couldn't read a story to her without her wanting to get away, but we perserved with reading time and activities where they need to concentrate more like building blocks etc. Eventually she 'calmed' down a bit but is still a very active 2yr old. Now, she sits still for all her books and activities but we're still working on concentration but I don't think this realistically comes about until later in toddler development. Hailey was also only a cat-napper during the day (40min max) but slept 12hrs at night.
I wouldn't be worried - you just have a bub that loves to be on the move and likes to explore which is how they learn. Perhaps if you do very activie things with him for a majority of a morning or afternoon and then have quiet time before sleep or something. It is very tiring running after an active kid though isn't it.
He's the same age and he's full on as well. Constantly moving, bashing things, poking things, into things....yells when I leave the room, the whole bit.
It's been a rude shock because my daughter was the most placid, contented baby - you'd put her down and she'd stay there. Never worried when I left her etc. DS is the total opposite.
I've pretty much chalked it up to being a boy thing as well.
Thanks, i wasnt at all that concerned, but when the child car worker said that he is so full ona nd doesnt sit still , apparently other kilds his age, have a break now and again, where as DS is go , go , go , exploring etc, i thought hmmmmmmm- is this normal...
