13 month old grinding her teeth

i dont know if its normal or not but my 13mth old dd is doing the same thing and i absolutely hate it!! hope people have some ideas i will be watching this space too..

ds has done this at various times - on for a week or so and then stops... i thin he does i tmore when he has a new tooth...

Aah yes.. Kayla was doing this while cutting her top teeth! It was awful! But I had forgotten about it LOL - so she's obviously stopped. Novelty must have worn off - thank goodness

You can grind your teeth if you have sinus problems (not necessarily the noisy grinding, even just clamping your teeth together is considered grinding) so it could be related to her possible hayfever.

My DS grinds when he's got/getting a new tooth....I try not to react to it so he doesn't realise it's 'something' IYKWIM!

My DS used to grind his teeth. He was cutting some molars at the time. He was about 17 months old though, not sure that would make a difference. I just said "please stop grinding your teeth" every time he did it. He would stop. I kept my tone calm but firm. It seemed to be an unconcious thing and when I called attention to it, he stopped.

If you are concerned, definitely talk to your GP.

DD is indeed cutting molars right now actually. I'll keep an eye on it and if it continues, i'll definately get it checked out. She ended up having a cold so I didn't take her to the doc (she's better now), but I will about the teeth if the situation doesn't improve. Luckily she doesn't do it all the time. It just makes me worry because my mum grinds her teeth in her sleep and has had a lot of dental problems because of it. I suspect I do it too (in my sleep) sometimes as well actually.
