I have a bit of a problem with my 22 month old. When his little brother arrived 15 weeks ago, he decided to start refusing day sleeps. I kept the routine of putting him to bed up, and it only lasted about 4 days before he caved and went back to sleeping in the day.
Before baby, he used to be put to bed at 7.30, be asleep around 8ish, and sleep through till about 6.45ish, with a 1.5 - 2 hr sleep during the day.
Now he is still put to bed at 7.30, be asleep around 8.30ish, and sleep through till about 5am, with a 1.5 - 2 hr sleep during the day.
When he goes to bed at night, even though we can hear he is awake he just stays in bed and talks to his teddies etc. When he wakes at 5 however, he comes straight into our room (he can open doors) singing 'Morning' and simply will not go back to sleep. If he is up before 6.30 we put him back in his room where again he just talks and sings but doesn't sleep.
This would not bother me so much as he stays in his room quietly and is prefecty behaved then, but he seems to be getting overtired in the day and therefore being a little terror.
I wish I could help, but i can only sympathise.
DS (19mths) goes to bed at around 7:30 every night and gets up between 6-7 each day, usually closer to 6. Most mornings he wakes up between 4:30 -5:30 for a few minutes and goes back to sleep on his own, sometimes I have to go in to pat him etc.
He can't come in to our room though cos he is still in his cot, and is not looking anywhere near ready for a big bed yet.
If he stayed in there happily playing I'd leave him there, but he wakes up and cries til we let him get up, although for the past few days he has woken up and called out mummy, which is a new development!
Zhai has always been an early riser.... I have tried every method i can think of to get him to sleep a little longer. At one stage he was getting up at 5:30. I make him sit/lay in our bed till Jett wakes up. (thats only about 1/2 hr not even that sometimes).
Zhai is a really light sleeper from about 5:30am so maybe DS#1 is hearing DS#2? Are they in the same room?
