3 yo - vomiting, no wee, wont take fluids, 39 temp - PLEASE HELP

Oh Dan that sucks! That would have made me seen red and I'd have demanded he do something. There might be a reason for it but there are also risks (as you know) for those combined symptoms.

Keep watching her and if you're not happy, go back or ring your GP.

I do know they dislike giving maxalon in vomiting children as it isn't always effective.

Have you got some panadol supps? May be a bit tricky if she's got the runs but give it a go. Poor poppet. I totally sympathise. DD was whimpering and call for me in her sleep over the weekend and it broke my heart.

Liviam, I don't want to alarm you, but if I were you, I would take her back.

She sounds to me like he is getting very, very dehydrated.

If she is no better by tomorrow morning, definitely take her back and agitate until they admit you and rehydrate her. Does our nearest hospital have a proper paediatric ward? If not, how far away is the nearest hospital that does? Because I have to be honest, if you presented to me with your history, I would have either put in an IV or put down an NG tube and started rehydrating her by now.

Don't be afraid to take her in overnight if you need to, either.

Poor darling I really would have thought they'd have done more, particularly when she wasn't able to keep any fluids down. Does she just have a nasty tummy bug? If so I hope the rest of your household stay healthy! Sending big cuddles and get well vibes to your house tonight.

You're not alone tonight, Charlotte is in a similar position, had a wee an hour ago that has given me hope, but other than that she is throwing up everything, even water. She has been asleep all day, except waking to vomit.

Is she still isn't keeping water down, I will be at the hospital with her by early morning I think.

I'm worried ab out her so I've set myself up a makeshift bed in her room so I can keep a really close eye on her overnight. If I think she any worse we'll be back down there and this time I will demanding they do something to help my little girl. I'm so cranky that they dismissed me as an overreacting mum - she is so off it isn't funny. I know my girl they dont!!!

From what you have said there is NOWAY in burning hell I would of left that ED with out it being the case of being moved to the Childrens ward. MOTHERS AND FATHERS KNOW THEIR BABES BETTER THEN A DOCTOR. I would suggest taking her back and demanding that they do something and refusing to leave till they do.

(I had to take my 5yo niece when she was a few months old- drs said just viral but we suspected minigicolcle?sp cause of spiking temp and purple rash- they soon listened when I threatened legal action for medical negligance).

Exaclty!!! You know wht is normal, what is I am feeling a bit sick and what is really not your little girl. Has she been crying at all, or attempting to and are there tears? If not that is another sign of dehydration. Take care hun xxoo

I have had to fight at times, the nurses thought that 30 seconds on a sats monitor gave a clear indication of how DD's sats were, I demanded that it stay on, and give her the chance to see if she would sleep (was not able to sleep as she couldn't breathe!), should have seen the look on the nurses and then the Dr's faces as her sats dropped very low and it didn't matter how much ventolin they gave her it wouldn't bring them up and stablise her and she ended up being admitted on oxygen. Seriously I only take DD in if she really needs to be there as sitting in a ER is the last place we can afford to take her, exposing her to everything under the sun!

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else. She needs to go back and be properly assessed. Put your foot down and refuse to leave if that's what it takes. She is your daughter and you know her like no-one else. There would have been a shift change there to I would think so there might be different staff on. I would take you myself if I could.

Keep going with the little sips of fluid, even if you have to syringe it in, it is good that she has started to take tiny amounts, but she needs quite a bit more to get her hydrated, do you have any hydrolyte, or can you get any from a late night chemist? It will make the fluids that she is getting worth more, but they still need to take quite a bit before it make a difference.

Like Schmickers said, if there I another ED, that specifically focuses on children I would take her there, they just seem to understand more, we always take DD to the childrens hospital over the local ED, they gave DD suppositories as she needed pain relief, and if that wasn't going to work, they were going to put an IV in, she also went through a couple of bags of hydrolyte via an NGT but it made a big difference, as they also tried getting something in orally to no avail, they even failed getting the pain relief in *which made me feel less of a failure".

If she hasn't improved by the early tomorrow morning, take her back in, thinking of you and your little girl xxoo
