4 months old & just had needles... eeeek!

    Hi,

My 4 month old DS just had his needles this morning... three of them - how cruel. I gave him some panadol before we went to the Dr, he was fine for about the next 5 hours. He then turned into a monster, wouldn't settle, cried, screamed, didn't let me put him down. He doesn't seem to have a temp and he didn't have any kind of reaction with the first needles at 2 months old. Can they have a reaction with the 4 month needles even though they are the same as the 2month ones with no reaction? Has anyone else's bub had no reaction with the 2 month ones and then some kind of reaction with the 4 month ones???

    Hi
So, you are becoming an Aunty... how very exciting for you.
Needles are certainly one thing that I am not looking forward to.

Micky - I always give DS panadol before he gets the needles, and then four hours after the first lot. Just so I don't have him screaming down the house (cos it really gets to me after a while!!!) Just have a peek at his legs, make sure no reactions have come out, but I'm pretty sure being unsettled is just par for the course!!! :-) Good luck.

The one thing that he did get with the first needles were lumps on his legs but he hasn't broken out in a rash, a little red but normally he is a really happy, settled bub so I am guessing this is the reason and I just have to ride it out... Thanks xxoo

DD was fine at 2 mnth but had more of a temp at 4mnth and was also wimpering (very cute but sad!). The nurse said not to give panadol BEFORE the needles because if you do, then you might not know if they have a reaction or not. She said to wait till after and if they had a temp or were irritable THEN give them panadol.

Oscar didn't have a reaction with the 2 month needles but had a little reaction with his 4 month needles.

As long as his temp isn't up hun, I'd say you just have to ride it out. Poor little munchkin and his mummy
