just another quick note about tummy time - it doesn't all have to be on the mat. you can do it on your body (or on your husband's/partner's body). Lay on the floor (or couch) and put DS on his tummy on your chest - he will try to lift his head to look at you - it's so cute and close up...if he tires, he'll put his head down on you...they don't do tummy time for that long at that age. We also used to (and still do) tummy time on bent knees (meaning I'm sitting in a chair and DS is lying across my lap)...I think this used to help his tummy as well, also, if he was tired and couldn't settle, I'd do this and he'd fall asleep that way if I rubbed his back or patted his bottom. We continue to use laps and bodies for tummy time because DS has started to roll from tummy to back and the body-to-body tummy time is the only way he'll stay on his tummy for any length of time...and everyone loves it!

Also, people use a fit ball for tummy time as well - I hear babies love this - they also love being held while you sit on a fit ball and bounce gently up and down (so I've been told)
