Question Advice on sleep issue - 18mth old boy

    Hiya ladies,

If any of you could give me some helpful advice i would really appreciate it.

My son is 18mths old and has been in his "big boy bed" for a month or two now. We had no problems with the transition from cot to bed at all but the last 4 or 5 nights he has been waking up between 12.30 and 2.30 and it has been really hard to get him back down. He waddles up to our bedroom and we take him back to his, sit in his room with him til he falls asleep again but sometimes this can take a hr for him to go back down.

Ive thought about reasons why hes is only waking up now.
    1. He has three teeth coming in at once so that could be the problem.
    2. Scared of the dark? But he has a little light on his monitor
    3. Or is scared to be alone as he seems fine when we are in there but when we walk out and the light changes in his room he'll wake up and start crying again.

We are going insane and would love some advice please

Cass, I'm just wondering if he could be cold. My 19 month old is sleeping through but my 3yo is coming into our bed every night atm. I think it's because he is getting cold. Otherwise it could just be a stage, or teeth. Have there been any changes around your place - new job, visitors, anything different to usual?

My DD1 did this from 11mths to 13 mths starting in May... once we put a heater in her room it was all she needed. My DD2 has just started doing this as well & is 18 months, so we started turning the heater on again and making sure she had an extra blanket on when we went to bed. So far she's slept through for 4 nights!

I hope thats all it is for him. Its frustrating & tiring.

I thought it might have something to do with being cold because it does get cold in his room and he wiggles around on his bed and gets out from under his covers etc but I put super thick fluffy pj's on him for that reason and seeing he is in his "big boy bed" I cant put a heater in there for obvious reasons.

We had a heater in there last winter but he was still in his cot then so there was no danger to it.

Have you got any ideas on how to make him warmer during the night seeing he is a wiggler? And he is in a bed so it makes it harder again.

But I would love to hear if you have any solutions for it coz that may be the reason. I'll rug him up that little bit more tonight and see how we go....

    Thank you!!

    Cass,

Does he wear those all-in-one fleecy pj's that you can get from Target, Best and Less, with the zipper right up the front, at least the bottoms don't get separated from the top and he won't get a cold tummy/back, and they have feet in them to keep him warm too.

He usually sleeps in pj's that I got from Big W. They arent a all in one but the pants have the feet in them and the jumper has a button that joins to the pants if that makes senes.
