    almost in tears....

omg, what a night i have had so far. my DD normally goes to bed at 6.30pm after a bottle. she will sleep through until her dreamfeed, around 9.30pm. but tonight is different. she had bottle at 6.00pm and went to bed at 6.30pm. then she woke screaming at 7.00pm. so i re-settled and left the room. then she screamed a couple of minutes later. so i brought her out where i was sitting. she played for a while and i had a shower (she normally sits outside and watches me).

after the shower, she had a screaming fit, yawning whilst she was crying. then i settle her down, give her nurofen (as her first molar was through yesterday), she screams again. then she goes off to sleep. this is 8.30pm.

i put her to bed again, leave the room, she screams. i get really frustrated and say "no" to her in a firm voice. then she screams even more. i then get the guilts.

right now, she is on my lap, awake, it's 9.00pm. i am almost in tears....

i am not sure what is wrong with her. is she overtired to the point where she can't sleep IYKWIM?

Oooh thats a rough night already

I remember having them with DS - it was either an ear infection coming (which hurts them to lie down) or them bloody teeth!!!!!

If she doesn't settle down, you could always try giving a dose of panadol as well? Supposed to be more effective if used with nurofen rather than in separate doses (I'm sure I've read that on here...)

I hope its not too rough - and that you can catch a lie in tomorrow.

Sometimes they have days like this. I think both my DS and DD were about the same age when they would have similar days. Might be the seperation anxiety (usually starts around 9-12mth) a developmental milestone, sore teeth, growth spurt, bad dream??? not sure but it does pass. If she will settle with you then make this a rest night, put your feet up and have a lie down with her.

It is hard QB IMO teething is a very likely culprit, otherwise it could be an illness. I agree that panadol seems to work mostly. Also, I sometimes find that they are happy to lie on the couch for a while and then get tired enough to go to bed and sleep. Usually they have to go to bed at bed time, but on nights like this I find it only causes grief to do that, and doing whatever works is the best bet. As soon as she is better she will go back into her routine. GL hun, I hope she sleeps well once she goes down.

Thanks Manta. Just so happens she is into a great routine, had been sleeping in her new toddler bed for 3 weeks and the transition was excellent (because she had been a co-sleeper). I hope it's not ruined now always the way!

According to the Wonder Weeks, there's a stormy period right around 44 weeks, so that could be it?

Just do whatever you can to get some rest for both of you tonight *hugs* and I hope your little angel comes back soon!

I really should get a copy of that book. She is 45 weeks! Kazbah, can you tell me anything else it says about the 44 week mark?

She finally went to sleep around 9.30pm and slept through until 5.30am. I have one monster headache this morning but have taken something for it.

hi I just saw this thread and thought to reply in show of solidarity. my DD had 2 nights in a row recently following a similar pattern. in the end i just couldnt explain it and put it down to her spiralling cause she just became tireder and tireder IYKWIM. i found i coped better the second night as i allowed myself to be prepared for an all nighter. whereas on the first night it was completely unexpected. big hugs to you! and hope the headache clears for you! completely relate!

hope tonight goes a little easier

cass, seems like a stage doesn't it? had the best night last night. it seemed it was just awful on thursday night for some reason.

last night my DD went down at 6.30pm which is normal and i woke her for a dreamfeed at 10.30pm. then she slept through which was good.

will see how she goes tonight, at least i am prepared now IYKWIM, her teeth must be giving her some curry.

QB - Hugs sweets, hope your little one is ok today. Don't worry about her routine being interupted. My DD1 sounds very similar to your little one and when she was teething or going through a wonder week her little routine was always interupted but once everything settled again she went straight back to the norm. Also I found that once DD cut a tooth, she was unsettled afterwards on and off until the tooth actually came up.

Tip for you: When you are having bad time of it and you just want to cry..Remember that tomorrow is a new day and you'll both get through the rough moment!!! That always helped me

Yeah have to agree with you BekZ, now that these lil' munchkins have left behind their newborn stage they can bounce back to their routines alot easier and faster if something comes along and rocks the boat.

I really think that it's just a shock for us parents when our bubs have been consistent for a sustained time and then BAM takes us by surprise!

hang in there sweet, sounds like lil toofies doing some movin' and shakin'...she'll be ok soon, promise!!
