Can i ask how you have found the transition for your bubs once they grow out of the hammock? I like the idea, but would be worried once they no longer fit in the hammock the still cot wouldnt be what they are use to?

There is no Australian standard yet because there aren't many baby hammocks on the market and Standards Australia just don't have the funds to create a new standard for them. It is very expensive to create a new standard. I would welcome a standard because there are some very cheap and nasty knock-offs that I know aren't safe at all. The Amby mattress has passed the new proposed Australian and New Zealand standard for baby mattress firmness which is fantastic. The knock-off hammocks have very flimsy futon-style mattresses that fold around babies heads. Very dangerous in my opinion!

Frangipani Lou - I'm so glad you're still loving your Amby! My eldest slept in his until he was 23 months of age, so there is no rush to move her out if she's still happy in there! We used two springs as he got older which could support up to 24kg .

AlligatorsMum - All three of my babies slept in an Amby hammock and transitioning them was really easy. My younger two transitioned between 9-12 months of age by having one nap a day in their cot and another sleep in their hammock. Over time they had more sleeps in their cot until one day then just slept full time in their cot. My eldest at 23 months went straight from his hammock to sleeping in a toddler bed. He didn't complain at all, I thought it would be a difficult transition, but he took to his bed immediately! I have had many other parents tell me it was much easier than they thought too

also - i love the hammock idea, but they are quite expensive.. would you ever consider buy a second hand one?

They are great value when they bring sleep lol! It was definitely our best baby buy when we had our first bub .

They are such great quality that they last for many babies. My old chiro used one for her daughters 20 years ago now and STILL lends it out to friends and family .

I'd but a new one- the Amby Air and then sell it when you're finished with it. The resell for a good price.

The mattress is 90cm long and we found it just stretched out with him as he grew .
