Right so today i caved in and got Jasmines 6 month needles done ...so what if she is 9 months...i seen no rush, except Centrelink sent me a letter every week, sometimes id get 2 a week saying if she doesnt get up to date they would cut off my CCB..which would be hell with 2 in care!
Now Chelsea is due for her 18 months (even though she is 20 months now) and im not prepared to get the chicken pox what so ever. DH asked the GP today while he was at the doctors how to go about getting a form or letter stating she wouldnt be having it, so we can let Centelink know etc....
They Dr had no idea what he ment or what he wanted to even do
Soooo...how do i go about this..how do i let Centrelink know she wont be getting it and i want her details to show 'up to date'?
You will have to get a Conscientious Objection Letter from your Dr stating that you understand the *risks* of not getting your child vaccinated but you choose to do so anyway blah blah blah and you send that to centrelink so you can still claim your immunisation bribe money and any other entitlements they are threatening to withhold from you. You know what I find hilarious? Until the varilrix (chicken pox) vaccine was on the schedule they couldn't have cared less if you got it done or not, now that it is on the schedule it has all of a sudden become mighty important.
for purposes of maternity immunisation allowance, the chicken pox vaccine isn't compulsary - they simply give you until your child is 18 months old to be up to date (or have a conscientious objection letter provided) with the childhood immunisation register. MIA will still be paid, irrespective of whether you have this injection or not
however, with CCB, it is considered compulsory - and as a result, you need to get the conscientious objection letter registered with the Au Childhood Immunisation Register - this is done via the DOCTOR and does not need to be seen by centrelink staff at all. if you're making a decision now not to immunise, get that objection registered ASAP - and it will cover ALL future immunisations - not just the current one. so basically, c'link will stop chasing you for immunisation details for your children for ccb purposes. i will say though, check whether your child care provider will still accept your kids into care if you lodge that objection - they might have a policy in place that will stop them having your kids in care if they're not up to date (not many do, but check anyway)
They already gave us the immunisation money..LOL They havent threatened to stop Chelsea's CCB yet...only Jasmines...but im waiting for it to start happening soon enough.
Ill go to another doctor and say give me this letter....hopefully some other dr will understand what i want!
Thanks Trillian
ETA: So BG i go to my dr..say i need this form...and then they take care of sending it into the childhood regisiter?? Or is there something else i need to do?
Ill get Jasmines 12 months done when the time comes..and future ones...just for both girls i refuse chicken pox
