5/6 months may or may not be too early for sleeping bag instead of wrapping- it depends on your DS and how he is at that age. Best thing is not to worry about it until he is that age and you will have a much better idea. Some bubs like to be wrapped for months and months and others don't. RE the putting DS back down to sleep after waking from short sleep cycle. I would really watch his tired signs. You may/may not be able to pick them- clenched fist, eye rubbing, red eyes, yawn, grizzly, staring into space etc. So once you have picked him up, keep a close eye on him and as soon as you see a tired sign, get him back to sleep as fast as you can or else you end up with an overtired bub who is much harder to get off to sleep. I personally think it is more important to get bub off to sleep to prevent overtiredness than to get him to self settle which may take longer. This goes for this age only, I am not talking about down the track.
