It certainly could be high functioning autism. Did he mention Aspergers syndrome to you? It runs in my family so I know a little bit about it. I was just reading on an Aspy blog today about an Aspy's memory. The guy described it as a filmographic memory, so they see things and then play it back in their minds and remember it all perfectly (like what he is seeing on TV and listening to on the radio). I do a similar thing with songs and numbers!
Hopefully this specialist will be able to give you lots of useful info. There is an Aspergers thread that you might find useful here: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...atter-4-a.html
ETA - A description of Aspergers Syndrome is here: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-syndrome.html
