A notebook or calender to record baby details.
Blank cards or note paper for thank you cards
some lovely natural (petrochemical free) wash, cream and/or balm
paw paw lip balm
a lovely warm beanie for the baby
New baby blanket - even if you have some of these it is lovely to have a new one for the new baby
mobile
socks - we needed new ones as the elastic was shot on the hand-me-downs
music cd for baby to relax to
story books for older siblings (to keep them occupied)
face washers or terry nappy flats to use as burp cloths
fess little nose drops (inevitable that the new baby will get a cold with older siblings around!)
a big bottle/box of a lovely natural scent free clothes wash liquid/powder
weleda products - including nursing tea if your friend is going to breast feed
(love the idea of chocolate, amber teething necklace and photo frame/album too)
Thanks for the good ideas!!
Going to go to town on Friday and buy everything. Being a small town, everything here is twice the price so its better to wait to go to a bigger town.
So, after taking your ideas... here's what I'm thinking, but i know I'll go mad and buy heaps.
1 little outfit, towelling. (Winter bub needs to be warm)
A hat.
Maybe one of those 7 piece sets?? Comes with a long suit, a short suit, hat, mittens, jumper, pants and a bib. Bit hard to buy one of those because we don't know if its a boy or girl.
A soft toy for when bub's a bit older. Kmart usually has some cute giraffes or something.
A rattle.
Some J&J bath stuff. We have HEAPS of bath stuff, and you only use 2 pumps at a time. So for only a few dollars its a huge bargain!
Some nappy powder.
Picture frame.
A blankie
Oh man, I just know I'll go mad! I love buying baby stuff. Its all so tiny and cute.
Do you bake? How about some lactation cookies (with recipe attached). Or even some choc chip cookies or anzacs? I have a good link for a cookies in jar mix recipe (comprising all the ingredients in a jar which they make themselves) if you want it.
Me?? Bake?? lol No.... but I wish I'd heard of lactation cookies when I got home with DD. My milk disappeared and thats why DD is now formula fed.
I'd like to bake, but I just don't get the time. And when I moved in with DP he had nothing. I tried to bake and the only flour he had had expired 3 years earlier.
No baking trays. No basic baking ingredients. I couldn't even make a packet mix cake because he didn't have a cake tin, or an electric mixer or anything. He didn't even have a can opener!!
Such a typical bloke. The house is slowly getting more and more stuff.
I'll try and find some Gaia stuff, where does it get sold??
