We have decided to have a dedication type ceremony for Isabelle in a few months time. To cut a long story short, DH is not religious at all and I grew up in a christian family and would like to have a dedication ceremony (and DH is more than happy with this) I havent been an active church member for a number of years and the church I grew up in doesnt really exist anymore(long story) but I still feel strongly about this.
Soooo am thinking of having an outdoor service in a park maybe with my BIL and sister to hold the service, and then a BBQ afterwards....
Basically I want to know what other peoples dedication ceremonies were like- and if anyone sort of made up their own, IYKWIM?
Any ideas suggestions appreciated - I havent been to one since my neices about 11 years ago so not really even sure if there is anything other than prayer to be included?!
TIA!!
We didn't do a dedication ceremony, but our local council has a day every year where families with a baby born in the year can plant a tree. The tree is planted in parkland areas (quite a lot of bush/parkland in our area) with a little plate with the babies names and date of births on it. It's become a big event now.
But I think the idea of planting a tree is great and it is something you can show your child when they are much older. Perhaps you could make that part of your day.
