    Jolly jumpers

Just wondering what everyones thoughts were on the jumper things you put bubs in and they bounce up an down!

DS is really pushing up on his legs when we hold him and thought maybe he would enjoy one?
My only concern is can they damage babys spine or body in any way? Are they safe?
    Thanks x

I got told in my mother classes to give them 15 minute runs in them. One of the other mothers reckons her baby is sick of being in there after that time anyway.

I don't have one but will buy one for the next baby. All of the babies I've seen in them just love them.

    Hi there,
I think used in moderation they are good fun for bubs. We have one and DS likes it for short periods (ie no more than 15mins at a time). I don't even use it weekly though so on second hand maybe not worth it!? Can you borrow one?

As long as they can support their own neck they can use one. DS had one and adored it, we were given it as a gift and it was great. You also need to make sure they can touch the floor with flat feet.

Hi Amber! When Joel was a bub he LOVED his Jolly Jumper! It was probably the best toy he had. I think they are fine to use in moderation. I used to put him in it for up to 10 minutes a day. It caused no problems with Joel's spine and he developed completely normally. It was wonderful when I was trying to get stuff done. I'm looking forward to putting Kieran in it!

I have a pre-loved baby goods business and they are one of my best sellers. I don't have any left at the moment though

Boomba we took both boys to see an osteo who specialises in treating babies and children and she said it is ok so long as they can support their head and aren't left in it for ages. She said a bub will let you know how long is too long

Kaitlyn used to LOVE her JJ!. I used to put her in for up to 15mins a day and play a Playschool CD . She would bounce and laugh and I would sing.

DD is a JJ graduate with no side effects, she loved it and would laugh hysterically, and jump as high as she could, short amounts of time are fine they get tired quickly in them anyway

Annika goes to a physiotherapist (for other, unrelated problems), but when the physio found out that Annika used to spend time in the jolly jumper, she advised I stop, or at least decrease this. The main problem is that they can shorten a muscle in the baby's legs, hence the baby will learn to walk on tip toes. With Annika, I had to do some exercises, which involved banging her heel softly against the floor, whilst encouraging her to take some weight on it. It took a while, but she now stands flat footed!
