My youngest son does it. He is 2.5 years old. It was quite frequent when he was younger but is slowly growing out of it. Doesn't worry me as he only does it when he is tired and now he has a big boys bed, he just puts himself to bed when he starts.

My DS5 does the exact same thing. Has since day dot
He's at the age now I am trying to discourage it.
But I can't be everywhere at once, and as with your DS it's when he's tired or going to sleep
