Not ALL agencies request money up front. Some will recruit you and work on the basis that they know you will get work and they get their money that way..

Ive searched around a bit and found much of the feedback is the same.

Colleen, can you tell me any agencies that do that, I haven't found any, a system like that would be great!

I have heard of Bettina approaching people and they dont have to pay, most agencies wont let you know they do that, coz they are about to get your fees iykwim. You cant sort of ask to be put on their books for free because you werent scouted is how it works i think.

I was warned that unless I was approached its a fairly big gamble with your money. but i guess everything has an element of risk.

I'm wondering if any of you have some direct experience with both TinLids and Bayside Modelling agencies. It would be great to hear of both the positives and negatives before I pursue this for my son. This thread has been very enlightening! Thanks for your help,

Well, I'm with tinlids and have found it ok other than we have had now work! hehehe. A lot more affordable than some of the others but I suppose it doesn't matter if it's still money wasted iykwim?

My DD is with Bayside modelling. The lady there named Kelly is fantastic, honestly, shes very friendly and proffessional. DD has only been there for 2 months and been to 1 casting.
She has 2 kids of her own who alos do modelling, and shes been in the modelling industry herself for many years, so she has a lot of experience and connections.

No not as yet, been to one casting only... but thats what the industry is like. You have to be lucky as it depends what age and look they are searching for at the time. There may be a period of 6 months where they only look for bubs 2-4 years (eg)
It just a matter of being patient, bubs turn will come soon :)

i just got the most recent Kmart catalogue and previous Target toys catalogue and it is full of baby and toddler redheads, why isn't my readhead in there?!?!?!?! I was thinking of sending his pics directly into Coles Myer and seeing what happens, who knows, they might ring Tinlids and say why haven't you shown us this little stunner!?!?

Have you tried ringing Min or do you just send e-mails? If you ring and get to speak to her it's harder to aviod you then, e-mails are easy to avoid.

yeah, have tried that, and I just get the spiel about emails being down. And then have to go over everything again

Awwwww bugger, that's really disappointing. I doubt we will be with them for more than a year.

ETA: Maybe you should threaten to report her to someone because you don't feel she's being above board? That seems to get people's butts into gear.

ive called target / myer / kmart directly and they all say to go thru *insert agency here* but you might have better luck.

I hassled Bettina about whether or not jay was being put forward and after 3 or 4 emails i would get a generic reply saying something along the lines of its the luck of the draw.

Yep, my daughter got chosen by Target mainly because she looks like one of the girls from The Saddle Club... the other girls that were chosen alot that year looked like the other actresses in TSC too. So they choose children for odd reasons like that.

omg,tin lids just rang and chantelle has been called up to do a photo shoot for target tomorrow,oh dear i am so nervous and excited.i am supposed to be having an ultra sound at the same time...what to do what to do.....its on the other side of town in a park.....oh dear oh dear.

LOL don't be nervous...the staff that shoot for target (if it's the guys from Huge Studios) are lovely. No need to be nervous... infact you've got to be relaxed or else Chantelle might pick up on your nerves and get a bit unsettled. I'm sure you will find the whole experience a lot more relaxed than you're imagining. Sometimes you have to wait for a while for the shooting to start so take along something to occupy her! let us know how it goes!!! Good Luck! :)

Nikki or someone with TinLids, can u perhaps ask them if they have an affiliate in Sydney? I wanna get my girls into baby modelling, but DH is wary as u hear of all these fraudulant agencies who "put you on their books" for a fee and you never hear from them again untill it's time to renew your membership or whatever....

i am actaually not nervous about the shoot,just a bit anxious about what a huge day i have tomorrow,i have changed the u/s for 11 am so i wont be as rushed.now i just need someone to grab the boys from school as i am sure i wont be back in time....
wow,i really wasnt expecting a call,hope it goes well,would just love to have a copy of her in a catalouge for a keep sake.

okay we are back,didnt go too well im sad to say.
when she originally rang me asking for chantelle,she said that they wanted her because she was size 0 and could stand on her own,i said no she cant,she can only stand with something ore someone to hold onto.she said that is fine,and gave me the address,
so we get there and the location was beautiful in a park by the beach.they ask me if chantelle can stand on her own and i explain that she cant etc.they told me to go home....very sad i must say,we decided to stay and watch,they were very friendly and apologetic and they thought that chantelle was beautiful but they were very disapointed that carolyn misled me.we still get payed though which is good.

That happened to me at a shoot for tilly. It was for a DJ's catalogue and when we got there, tilly got stage fright (she was one and was clingy). We too got sent home but did get paid. Was soooo disappointed so know how you feel xo

OMG, that is fo unfair Nikki, that is the agencie's fault for sending you, I wouldnt be too happy with that, getting all the way down there and then being told to go home, esp when you are PG, you should let Carolyn know that you weren't happy with that.

Yep, this kinda thing happens quite frequently I'm afraid :( My DD has been to several shoots where things like sizing issues prevented her from being used... once she even was called in and we found out they needed a boy! At least you get paid though. Still, seeing them in a catalogue is kinda priceless! ;) Better luck next time Nikki! At least they know you are able to rock up on time! I've heard the Huge studio staff complain about models being late... they absolutely hate it... if they know you're keen they'll remember you and might even ask for Chantelle next time they need a baby :)

just wondering what sort of age your babies started modelling?

I signed Jonah up at 10 months but I think they take them at all ages, if you look up their websites they will tell you what ages they take.

When we were with BubbleGum Wade did a Target shoot at about 2.5 months ... he just had to lie in a moses carrier for 5 mins... not bad for $60. BubbleGum take them from birth... occassionally they need newborns for tv commercials etc.

I have had a past experience with All Stars Modelling and I honestly do not recommend them.
They were unproffessional and quite rude. In the interview they didnt mention certain extra charges that we had to pay and for many other reasons.:angry:
Please do your research before joining ur child with an agency. Dont get me wrong, not all agencies are like this, in fact I have heard some great things about other agencies.
However I do not recommend AllStars

Well I'm surprised. We haven't got a job yet :( BUT I sent Tinlids an e-mail about updating Jonah's site, and gave them my new mobile phone number and was expecting to not get a response. But whadda know, she replied. It did take a few days but she did and 2 responses after that to further questions that I had, and they were instant. So things are looking up for us with Tinlids, now if only Jonah would get picked for someting :) Maybe now he's bigger he will, fingers crossed anyway.

So hopefully she's being more responsive to everyone.

DH wants me to put coco in an agency, so I will use the one my sister does, It's Bambini (Elite in Melb). Anyone used bambini? I will also put myself in it, in the hope we'll get a job together. Might have to change my hair back to blonde though, think we look more similar then! xo

Welcome to BellyBelly. I don't have too much trouble, sometimes she does take quite a long time but I don't think I've never not had a response eventually. Maybe try calling her and asking if the e-mail went though ok?

Yeah my updates take a while to go up as well. I assume over the holiday period she may even take a bit longer again....
I'm happy at the moment though because my little boy is in this weeks target catalogue!!! That was our first call for a job and we've been with them for over 6 months....I assume we may not get another one in the 12m I'll be a member but thats the way it goes I suppose...
