Baby Sleep Specialists - Perth

Hello all

We are now nearing desperation with Alexanders night-time sleeping and are now looking for outsider/specialist help. Has anyone heard of or can recommend any sleep specialists in perth??

Saw an ad in the parenting paper for a lady called Tonya Kalajzic, anyone tried her??

Not really wanting to go to Ngala for various reasons.

DH and I are at exhaustion point, Alex will wake ona good night 3 times and on a bad night anywhere between 6-8 times. He has been diagnosed with night terrors but atm these are only happening once a week thank goodness. He is easy to put to sleep it is the waking that kills us. Funnily enough on our 7 week holiday o/s he was almost perfect and lulled us into a false sense of security the cheeky boy! But now we are back to his old habits....

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I dont know of any specifically but have you thought about contacting KEMH or PMH and seeing if there is anyone that they can recommend to you?

Is he sleeping in a bed or a cot, not that I know if it makes any difference, just curious.

I have a collegue (and very close friend) with whom I conduct new mother workshops...the next one is Friday 2nd November...lots of info on sleep, settling and a practical baby massage session

alternatively you can opt for a home visit with Zoe who works as Hush Postnatal

Ali, Alex is still in a cot and we most probably wont look at moving him till he is approx 2. It is a very big cot tho so he has plenty of room to move about.

AJP I hadnt thought about moving rooms - thanks for that suggestion, would never have thought of it myself.

Everything is a bit hit and miss really. You try one thing and if that doesnt work (which they seem not to be! ) you just keep on going.

Have you tried ringing Ngala? they will give you help for free over the phone or they do sessions where you can go there (and pay) or you can get someone one on one to come out.

The book Healthy sleep habits, happy child by Marc Weissbluth is a good one!

Sorry i just re read, and you want a specialist as in a doctor? Do you think there is a medical problem? If so Dr Annie O'Donnell at SJofG subi is a Godsend in all things sleep and asthma! Night terrors can be a sign of sleep apnea, or enlarged adenoids. Though they generally only happen within the first couple of hours when they go to sleep, so is waking with night terrors all night?
