    BAD nappy rash!

Geez Moo has such bad nappy rash he can't sit down! He has been crying all afternoon and is too scared to walk, it must be so painful

He normally wears cloth but I want to switch to the pull up (not training) overnight as he is so hard to get nappies on. So I trialed a pull up today and he did a poo in it, since then he's had the rash.

I don't know what to do! I've tried putting cloth back on but he's still screaming, I tried nappy free but he just stands there screaming and peeing on the spot. I don't know how to help the poor kid, it's sooo red and spreads all where the nappy was.

is it a radiating rash, or just red raw? - my DD had something very similar but it was radiating and turned out she had a nappy thrush infection. Daktozin cream was FANTASTIC as it is a nappy cream and anti fungal in one. i still use it now when she gets a bad case of nappy rash. her rash started clearing up within 5 hours of using it and by the next morning it was gone.

is it possible to get him into a bath? if he's reacting to the chemicals in the pull up it might be a good idea to clean him up (and also give him some relief

Thanks girls, put him in the shower with me as I thought he probably wouldn't sit down in the bath. He still cried the whole time poor thing.

It's completely covering where the nappy was, even on his testicles, does it sound like radiating? This was HOURS ago, can't believe it's still so bad! I now have an almost full packet of pull ups to give away.

At the moment he's ok with a nappy on very loose to catch the pee but don't know what I'll do when he wants to go to bed.

All I have is QV moisturiser, some Amolin cream and a cortisone for his eczema. Stupid me has nothing as we've never needed it before!

My sister said to use the cortisone so that's what he has on at the moment.

I hope his little bottom is getting better. Maybe ask the pharmacy if something like the QV bath soak stuff would help relieve it? Then when he gets out of the bath try whatever cream you want to put on?

he wont sit ina bath??? Gotta think out of the square babe
Get a big bucket or even the kitchen sinnk and make him a salt bath , he'll think he's having a pool
So many woman use salt baths after birth to help heal .... and they forget that they can do it for their babies aswell.

Get some olive oil to creat a barrier on the area and strip wash your nappies if your using cloth. Id actually be interested to know what nappies you are using becuase we had the same effect with suede cloth and microfibre boosters on both V and M

Thanks for the tip Maz - never thought of that.

It was a disposable nappy pant type nappy, the ones that've been advertised on TV recently. I was testing them out for night use and he had it on for about an hour. Back in cloth since and it's much better than it was yesterday. Has some patches of normal skin but still some bright red areas. Cortisone sems to be doing the trick.

It was so bad though, more like a burn than a rash, bright red and spread all where the nappy had been including his testicles. He's been able to sit down and walk today which is a huge improvement! Poor little guy.

Ambah has this today. I was just searching on here as to what I should put on it. It is so red. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it though, but I am! What did you end up using?
