Hi, ds is 13 weeks. sometimes he can self settle, mainly the first sleep of the day, but if this only ends up being a 40 mon nap, it throws the rest of the day into chaos, and the only way he will then get to sleep for all the day sleeps is by the breast-fed to sleep, think cos he has had the 40 mon sleep in the morn, he is overtired by the arvo.. it throws us so out of whack, and it is so tiring, it has just taken me like 1.5 hrs to get him to sleep, and i wont be surprised if he only does 40mins today, as he is overtired, and has been fed to sleep by the breast. its a shocking habit, but its that, or he screams the house down when i put him to bed,. i have tried patting him, he hates it, refueses the dummy. Also he is sucking his hands a lot, does this generally mean he is hungry, or is it more a comfort thing. I know he can self settle, but he is refusing to self settle more then he will at moment. I want to break the habit of falling asleep at the breast, as i think it is comfort more then hunger, but then he is sucking a fair bit each time when i offer it to him at bedtime.. it is so tiring.. My ds(2) was the opposite, he wanted to be rocked to sleep all the time, and i broke this habit when he was 5 mnths, i dont want to fall into bad habits again.. i have tried feed play sleep routine, but it isnt working with a busy 2 year old.. oh well hope it all falls into place soon..
