dd is now 3 weeks old and her belly isnt healed, it still bleeds a little (a very little, a couple of spots on some nappies), but it just keeps crusting over again and again, is there anything i can do to help it to heal?

It sounds like there is still a bit of the umbilicul cord tissue there. It's called a granuloma and looks pinky red and it creates mucous (looks like dried snot).
Angus had one that wouldn't go away and at his 8 week injections the Dr put silver nitrate on it which made it shrink away. Ruby has one too but it looks to be going away on it's own. It's still a bit pink but the crustys are not as bad as last week.

bit of vitamin e cream will help.
and also clean with alcho wipes, hewlps get rid of infections and cleans the skin

its pinky red but no mucous. does it hurt them?

i would use that if its bleeding a little.. means it open IYKWIM.. it will just sting
no she will be fine.. but as i said.. keep it dry and clean.

dont use the wipe on teh belly button, but the skin around it.
it wont sting as the belly button when it is crusty is actually dead skin as has no feelings.
so no it doesnt hurt them.
i did this to my little one when she had a gunky belly button from a bit of tissue left over and she never winced or cried.

DDs belly button took ages to heal, over a month, when she cried and her belly rose it would open and you could see inside!! And it smelt bad. I washed it and dried it so well three times a day but didnt get any better. Doc gave me some alcohol wipes to use and within a week it was healed and normal!!

Congrats on bubby once again!!
I'd just give it a bit of a gentle wipe with saline if it looks a bit oozy or crusty, but otherwise just let it be.
Wouldn't recommend using alco wipes at at all though, much too harsh for healing new born skin.
Hope it heals up nicely very soon
