moving from sleeping bag to sheet/blankets - how??

I think maybe DS is 'over' his sleeping bag.. so thought i would try and move to sheets/blankets. how do i do this? ie how do you make up cot etc?
any tricks for changing - his bag is a sleep cue at the moment i think.. and i rock him to sleep still so that could add a spanner...
any tips welcome! thanks (ps he is 17 mnths)

Here's a trick that has worked for me in the past:

Have both for a week or two. If you go with two, then for the first week he's in his sleeping bag, but can hold onto a top sheet (preferably the one you will use) During this time, talk about the sleepsuit, and prepare him for growing up into big boy pyjamas. Show him the pyjamas, make them special.
Next step, is to wear the pyjamas, and take the sleeping bag to bed with him. You may find that he flings it on the first night and couldn't care less. He might needa whole week with it, he might need a month with it. It's unlikely he'll still need it at 21.

    See how you go!

We went cold turkey because it was just too hot to put her in it when we had the 40+ 3 day heatwave. She was fine but she also has a fluffy blanky which she holds so that's kind of more important to her than the sleeping bag. She was fine.

Now that it's cooled down, she has a little doona on her bed and when I tucked her in I'd say, "under the covers, under the covers let's get shnuggly."

So now when I say, "under the covers" she knows what that means and kind of gets under the doona herself and pulls it over. So we sort of make it into a game if that makes sense.

thanks girls - well we went cold turkey - with a sheet and blanket and so far all ok. 1st night he woke and camt in with us after we couldnt settle him back under the blankets... came in about 2am i think... last night he slept through - doesnt do that often!!! he comes out fromunder the covers part way through the night but it is stll warm so prob ok as he learns, i think the 1st night he was cold as his pjs kept riding up as they were maybe alittle small, so i got sonme new bigger ones and he seems better in them. dh putting him to bed now so fingers crossed tonight is good too.... thanks for the advice! my little boy is growing up!
