Biting

This one is actually for a friend of mne, she is at her wits end as to how to stop her 2.5 year old from biting. She has from day 1 instigated the naughty corner, has tried talking to her about it etc etc but she just wont stop. They have just moved house and her little one has become even worse mostly taking it out on her little brother as soon as no one is watching.

Does anyone have any ideas, she is feeling really low coz its such a yucky thing and she cant seem to get on top of it.

MiMo - Toddlers usually bite to express their feelings, as they don't have the vocabulary to use words. Moving house has probably made this worse as it's all new and possibly frightening and not what she's used to. I don't know how to make her stop, other than making her feel secure and loved. She's not being "naughty", she's just trying to express herself. I would possibly try re-directing her behaviour, by distracting her with something else. And keeping a close eye on her, so she doesn't use her little brother as a teething ring!!!

Mackenzie was a biter and I used the corner as well. She turned 3 in June and hasn't bitten for about a year. They do grow out of it. I know others who have bitten their kids back but I just couldn't do that - you know the saying 2 wrongs don't make a right.
