biting bub

Hello All,
I have a beautiful 16 month old toddler who has started to bite!! I have no 2 on the way and would really like my DD to be out of this stage before the baby comes. i appear to be the only adult she constantly bites but she is terrible with kids. She has never bitten my DH or tried to. She doesn't do it out of frustration all of the time although this can be a trigger often for no reason! Any advice on how i should handle it when she bites. I am getting to the point of been embarrassed to take her to playgroup as i dont want people to think of my angel as the bully of the group.

My friend's daughter is a biter, but when she doesn't get her way ie another child has something she wants. The mum always pulls her away & tells er that biting isn't a nice thing to do & that she is very sad with her for biting. Usually then she has to sit for a minute or two on her own. She is two years old though & can understand the idea of a time out.
