Hmmmm. Well, I'm probably doing it ALL wrong but we brush in the morning after breakfast and at night after dinner. We feed to sleep, always have, and most of the time its the only way she'll go to sleep at night (short of letting her drop from exhaustion at 10pm!) so I'm not going to wake her to brush her teeth!!!!!!!
I'm interested to know what others do?
I think as long as they're brushed at some point...?
We do DS's teeth only once a day in the bath. I think at this stage it is more about learning good dental habits and getting used to have them done iykwim? I was told that doing it with a face washer is fine, but I got this great set of baby toothbrushes that have one for each stage of the first 12 months, the first two have rubber heads and it is only the last one that has bristles.. I just got them from the chemist, they were pigeon brand from memory.
Oh, yes we have a set like that too. Ours are "Safety 1st Hospital Choice" brand with a triangler shaped 'teether', a 'rubber brush', and a 'bristle brush'.
She uses a Diego one now lol. She chose her own and now loves to brush her teeth. Getting into the habit early makes it MUCH easier (I assume, I don't know what its like trying to brush the teeth of a toddler not 'in the habit' lol).
i was thinking of getting those toothbrushes, they come in a set of 3? i thought they were more of a chew/teething thing.. i was going to get some tho.
and i was thinking that brushing just in the bath at this age would be ok. Im really a little paranoid coz ive got horrible teeth, my mum never made us brush our teeth and now we pay the ultimate price, we ALL have bad teeth purely from neglect. i want her to WANT to brush them so that she doesnt end up with teeth like mummy.
i think ill just brush them after her bath of a night, and just (at this stage) wipe over them ith a face washer, which is what ive been doing sinc her teeth came through.
just put a wet face washer over your finger and use it to rub bubs teeth. sometimes i do that, sometimes i let her play with her toothbrush in the bath and sometimes i try brush her teeth properly (but that is very difficult). i try to do it at least once a day but sometimes idont. the other thing is, try and avoide sugary foods/drinks and then give a drink of water after if you do.
jack had his teeth at same time as miss a until he started solids i wiped his mouth and teeth with a washer during baths, once solids started i used the small toothbrus but still wiped with washer toothbrush was to get him used to it... i did it morning and night once solids started...also gave water after food so nothing was left neare teeth as such
