to Bubba Moe or to not????

I am thinking of getting a sling but even though I have researched...I still don't know! I really don't want to get one and find out it is hard to use or uncomfy. A close friend suggested a Bubba Moe and she used it for months. Has anyone else used one of these?

I am really interested in one I can just slip on and off myself.....??????

I don't want to spend a fortune so would YOU buy a 2nd hand one off ebay?????

I didn't like my bubba moe, and neither did DD1. I had DS in there from 14 months to about 18 months out of sheer necesssity, he wouldn't leave my side. But it pulled horribly on my neck and shoulder (because it goes over one shoulder) and its not really hands free, cos it sort of ties your arm down at the same time so you can't really use it.

I can name a few other carriers that are much better, can be used for longer (ie more comfortable for you to use) and better for bubs.

I love my bubba moe and so does DD2. It does take a bit of practice to get bubs in and out, but once you master it, you'll do it with your eyes closed!! I bought mine second hand from ebay at a bargain price... it's in perfect condition (wouldn't know it's not new). Good luck hun.

LOL!! Well the Beco Butterfly is quite good (unless you are super super chunky like me cos it digs into back fat a bit!) and that comes with an infant insert, and its super easy to put on yourself or go from front carry to back carry without assistance because of the special butterfly pattern.

Um, I loved my close carrier when DD2 was young, up to about 5 months I think. Then I think they get a bit too heavy for it and its not as supportive.

I love my kleinsmekker mei tai - but I use my beetlebum half buckle carrier more. But mei tais are good, and supportive, and aren't difficult to learn (ie, I have no trouble doin them up but hate wraps!!!) and you can get not so expensive ones like a babyhawk mei tai. Basically anything that straps the baby to you, instead of across you or on your hip is going to be more supportive than a bubba moe. But thats my take on it, I know people out there love them.

Or the standard ergo is good too - I liked them for my kids after about 3-4 months onwards

We love our bubba moe now but it was waaaay to hot for DD in the summer, maybe it was just me but I could never get her in it comfortably when she was smaller.

The only thing with a one shouldered sling is that it is ONLY that - one shoulder, always. I am planning on using a ring sling for the first few months with the new baby, but I also have a mei tai, a few wraps and a few SSC's.

I have no problem buying second hand - I do it all the time!

But for a first timer I always recommend the Close carrier - but this also depends where you are.......... this may get a little hot for you if you are up north..................

I didn't like it at all and neither did my DS. I found it hard to get him in and out when he was small and he was never comfortable. It was a waste of money for me!

My mum made me one that was much better - it strapped over both my shoulders and so worked better for handsfree. I'd definitely recommend getting one that doesn't sling over just one shoulder.

I found it waaaay too hot for DD and very uncomfortable pulling on my shoulder and neck. It was a bit of a struggle to get her in it and position her so we were both comfortable.

I used my bubba moe from when DD was 3 wks (she was a month prem) and I still use it now (14months). We just got back from Bali for 2 weeks. I walked for 3hrs with her in it - no problem at all. I love it. Don't know what I would have done without it. I have heard the ergo's are great too, but haven't used them personally. If you haven't already, check out the bubba moe website. Loved it, loved it, loved it! So did DD - actually, she still does! Did I mention we love it? LOL!

Started using ours around 5 weeks - will use it a lot earlier with our next bubs! Used it ALL the time until DD was about 7 months or so. She loved the heart/cradle position and had most of her day sleeps in it as she was a shocking day sleeper until about 6 months (she slept SO well in her Bubba Moe). A lot of family and friends referred to it as the 'magic sling' as it was so damn good - DD was just so happy in it!! I did take it into a baby shop and got them to show me how to put DD in it properly - I highly recommend doing that.

We used ours again recently on holidays (DD has just turned one) so she could sleep well on the flights - worked a treat.

As you've probably realized, we can't say enough about Bubba Moe - ours rocks!

PS we also have a Bjorn and an Ergo. DD doesn't mind the Bjorn but I think it's uncomfy. We both love the Ergo and it was a good transition from our Bubba Moe. We use the Ergo most of the time now, have done so since DD hit 11 months.
