Can anyone recommend a great high chair????

Hi All

We bought a high chair the other day called Love n Care Caprice. It's awful. It was on special ($80 off) and honestly, when we put it together, the harness was cheap, stuck all the time, the wheels were not good and the brakes didn't work well. Also, not much padding on the seat. We were really disappointed! So it's now on ebay.

Can anyone recommend a great high chair and where from? We only paid about $75 for this one, normally $150 but we would be happy spending a couple of hundred on a good one. We always buy good quality products so unsure why we bought this one!!

Your help would be much appreciated.

Bindy, I didn't even use a high chair with DS2. He has a Phil & Ted's me too which is a seat that attaches to the table. He prefers it to a high chair as he is actually sitting up with us. We bought it for DS1 when he refused to sit in a high chair anymore and then when he was taller got him a booster seat and DS2 has the me-too. You can also take it with you when you go somewhere - it attaches to most types of tables.

The best. And cheap. So not all cheap stuff is nasty. Comes with a blow up insert for younger kids and its the only one that would get DS to sit up straight in and not slump down and bump his chin on the tray

Is the ikea one the one with removable legs, white? That is my favourite too. I tried about four. Definitely my fav. We even take it away with us as it is very portable. About $40.

It is very easy to keep clean also. If we use it outside, I just hose it down!!

Just wanted to second (or third?) this recommendation. Excellent highchair, easy to move and clean. A must have in my opinion for only $40. I would pay top $ for it as it's so good and easy to keep like brand new.

A fourth for the Ikea! I love this chair! So, so easy to clean and makes bubs sit up straight, unlike most chairs which encourage a slumped posture, which I figure is not great when eating.

Obviously it's a bonus that it's cheap, but I would have paid alot more for it. It doesn't look like much, but it does a great job. I know a few people IRL who love it too.

ETA I read on here once that when one mum found her child was just so grotty after eating, and the Ikea highchair was too, she just put them all in the shower to get the child and chair clean LOL!

yep fifth this chair !!! really there is no need to spend heaps of money as it doesnt necessarily mean qualitly!! i love that sophie sits straigh, no slouching here!! the blow up padding is great as is a spare one kept in the car for restaurants!!

We bought a Peg Perego Prima Pappa high chair off ebay and it is fantastic. It has the bar thingy between the legs so bubs doesn't slip through and is curved seat... so great from little baby to grown toddler... Couldn't fault it... best choice I ever made.

Few things Belinda:
1. There is a great thread (actually a few) on this in nursery items or furniture or something (I will check and get back to you) Many people love the Ikea one,
2. Why don't you get a refund on your Love n Care- sya the wheels stick etc and that you expect better quality
3. I got a Prima Pappa as well and have had no problems with it- it's great. They are about $300 new but you get them on ebay or from the local paper. A friend got the Fisher Price one from Target ($200) and loves it. I would wait for a 30 or 40 % off sale!

Loving my polly chair by Chicco! It has easy to use tray and lower tray to put things on for mum that bub can't reach, doubles as a booster for toddler years by removing one padded cover, folds easily. The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't remove the chest straps to wash (they are white ie now orange as my DD loves pumpkin) but today discovered I could spray them with a clothes stain remover spray and hose it - it now looks brand new!
