Red face A bit of a poo-ey question...

    Hi All!

This is a topic that I dont really like to discuss but I am a little concerned and I hope to get some answers quickly!!

Avaleigh has done about 5 poos today, maybe even 6, and this is unusual for her as she will only do 1 a day or something 1 every couple of days! The first couple were normal, but the rest had a really sweet smell to it and was a bit dark green. The last one she did was all dark green. DH was just looking after Avaleigh and as the poo doesnt have a strong stinky smell to it, he didnt change it. So when I changed it, I noticed her skin was a little irritated from it and had red spots where to poo was sitting.....

So any way! Does any one know what could have caused this change? Avaleigh is breastfeed and is on solids. I have introduced a few new things to her like, milk with breakfast cereal, bread, cheese, avocado. All these were introduced over a week ago, could these new introductions be the cause?

What do you think and what should I do?

Mmmm, I'm really loathe to say this, but it sounds like teething poo to me. I hate blaming stuff on teething, but lets face it, sometimes that's just what it is! It sounds very similar to what goes on here with teething.

But you are mum, and you know best, so if you think it's something to worry about I'd give your MCHN a call tomorrow, or check with your GP.

    Good luck hun.

ETA for the red spots I find Penaten works the best

Hmmm I didnt think of teething! We never got this last time, but I guess every time is different?? What we got last time was one night of constant waking and that is what we had last night!! I didnt even put two and two together.. I guess we will see what tomorrow brings.

I am not overly concerned yet, but I guess if it goes for another day or two I will make an appointment!

Oh and where can I get penaten from - chemist?

Yep, you can get it from the chemist. I tried everything, and was despairing that nothing worked, when an old pharmacist put me on to Penaten. It's been around forever and a day apparently, but it works really well for us!

We had nothing apart from a bit of wakefulness with the first teeth (they came through together).........every other tooth after that has given us alot of grief

My advice would be to change/check her nappy often, use a cream if needs be, and if it's still bothering you in a few days (or if things get worse), get it seen to.
