    Question Clear/Watery Vomit

    Hello all,

My 5 month old has been vomiting up watery-like vomit yesterday and today. Sometimes there are small white chunks, but it's mainly just watery. He hasn't had any just plain water since about 5 days ago, he is formula fed (goat's milk) and is on 1 solid meal every other day.

Does anyone know what this could be? Does it mean something is wrong (I swear I've heard this)? He hasn't been sleeping well at all lately, is unsettled and his screaming is very high pitched?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ashlee, the only clear vomit we've had is when the reflux is really bad & its like the stomach acids which really burn.... Matilda used to get it. What meds is he on? Can you up something that will calm the acid down?

    Hi Ashlee,
I think any kind of continued vomiting should be checked out by a doctor, especially if he is upset. Do this before you start using medication of any kind as you could make the situation worse.
Big hugs. Hope he gets better soon.

As far as I know he isn't sick, he isn't showing the classic signs of being sick (and he's been unwell enough for me to determine that much).

I think it may be his reflux playing up again, he is on 1mL 2 times a day of 5mg Losec. Do you think gaviscon or something like that would help?

I do have some of the colic mix(thanks Danni!), when and how much should I give him? He is 8.75 kg if that makes a difference?

1mL at 5mg 2 times a day is what the paed prescribed, we have an appointment on Wednesday so maybe he can up the dosage? And yep thats compounded, I'm not very confident in using a tablet.

I got the medicine 14 days ago on the dot. He has almost run out so we will have to buy him a new lot tomorrow anyway.

I'm really worried about upping his dosage without consulting a doctor, last thing I'd want to do is overdose him or something!

HI it sounds like a reflux flaire up to me to. You wil find alot of refluxes seem to have a flaire up around th 4 to 6 month mark for some reason, sometimes its teething that can cause a fliar up it may sound silly i know but if they teeting and producing and swalowing saliva that can be ehough to cause a flair in these bubs
It does sound like the losec dose is farly low, and also Was you meaning its compounded at 5mg per ml if so i would also be ccocerned as to weather that is taying stable ehough, fro what i have learnt the most stable mix is 2mg per ml, and its also a good idea to get it compuned fortnightly

Whist bubs is having a bad patch you could try useing gastrogel or mylanta as a break through leeping in mind not to give it one hour either side of the losec

Before altering any meds though i would sugest discusing with the pead

    good luck

    Reflux sucks
