Just thought I'd throw my two cents in my DD1 went down to one sleep at ten months but can never make it to midday. She has to go down for a sleep at 10-10.30. She's nearly 19 months now and is still more than happy with what's happening. Marcellus gave such good advice. Try not trying so hard. And the transition from two to one sleep is very difficult. Agh!! Sleep. It's the bane of most mothers' existences methinks! xx

You can say that again Thanks for that MS, interesting that your DD likes her sleep early in the day. I'm trying to not try, and just go with the flow, and hopefully she'll show me what it is that works for her. Yesterday she had a second nap at 4pm and I realised I'd been so hung up on 7pm as bedtime and I didn't have to be. In fact she got a bonus trip to the park with daddy after dinner by doing it this way.

Swoop, we're in the same boat! DP is at home dealing with the transition from two naps to one. (He is so much more relaxed about it than me, thank goodness). DD gets tired, grumpy and rubs her eyes but refuses to go to sleep. Her bedtime is getting later and later -- 11.20pm is the record so far. Then on Tuesday she had an afternoon nap FROM 6PM TO MIDNIGHT!

I don't know the answer. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. It's just a matter of surviving this phase, I think.

It's nice to know we're not alone, although I'm sorry to hear that you are having struggles too

I've found a bit of respite the last few days by going for 2 40 min sleeps again (based on berme's advice to just try whenever tired) the first is at home in the cot, the second I have to time very carefully and go for a walk somewhere quiet. She wants to go for longer times between sleeps though so bedtime has moved back to 7,30-8 some nights (wow 11.20 - I feel for you )

A new tooth popped up 2 days ago (I can see 3 more about to erupt) and I also think my milk supply has dwindled as I haven't had any accupuncture for 8 weeks and DD's demand has been up and down, so off for some needles tonight (and hopefully some tips on toddler massage as she does that too).

It feels better now we're having a little success, and I get a little time to get stuff done!

Argh, cursed it posting while I was feeding her - she won't go in the cot again this morning, so i get to sit here and browse BB while I cuddle her!
