Talking Crawling and Food ideas! Let me have them!!!

As you probably know my DD who is 10 1/2 months does not crawl or eat!! So I would like some fabulous ideas on how to encourage both!

Crawling: she can push herself backwards and does 360's quite regularly. She can roll and used to do it quite a bit but hates doing it now!! She can sit. She can reach. She has NO interest in moving forward! Even when dangling things for her to grab - she gives up or cries!

Eating: I know people said it would happen when it does but still...when you read thread of babies same age eating 2 course meals and have tried hundreds of foods it makes you wonder!! She is totally b/fed and has JUST started drinking water (occasionally) and licking VERY small amounts of custard when she feels like it.

We have tried: feeding solids before b/feed, pureed, chunky and finger foods. She sits on floor, high chair or our laps. Anyway you get the picture - I want some new ideas!!!!!!

eating - umm i dont know, N is a great eater - i guess just keep offering variety of things... and dont show stress about it, as then she may be even less likely to eat??? sorry not much help there/.

    HI,

My niece didn't crawl for a long time, and when she did she bum shuffled, probably around the age of your bub. She didn't role much either.

RE food, i'm not sure. Find a favourite and focus on it?? eg if they eat fine pureed food, sneak in a couple of lumps. or go strait to finger foods. as naughty as this sounds my ds loves hot chips.

but if you want a healthier option, have you tried rockmelon. I have found it is the best texture/temperature for when ds is teething. nice and cool on the gums not too hard or soft, he can hold it in his hand, and who cares if they actually eat it or not, it's all about trying. and sometimes the food tastes better off mums plate, not sure why, just seems to.

.......me too pregpan, and Jordie...... - my sam isnt crawling yet either and doesnt even look like she is.
I think ive said before, my girls didnt crawl until 12 and 13 months respectively, and even then it was only for 4 short weeks then they started walking.

I bought one of those blow up cylinder things that encourages baby to crawl - sam just sits there and sucks it !

Oh, and Jordie, my DD has no teeth yet. Between them they are a great pair eh ???

    Good luck.....

well girls - this afternoon N and I spent about 90 mins together on the floor - i rarely have time for that... anyway i was putting down tempting things for him - my mobile, remote controls etc to get to and he did make quite a bit of progress... kind of shuffling along to things.... it is like he has worked out there is aprob but doesnt know what to do about it - oh yes he does know wha to do about it - yell for MUM!!!
here is a funny story about the situation. at fdc the other day he was having some vegemite toast - sitting on the ground with it on a plate. another baby about 2 weeks older than him crawled over, took the toast and crawled off. app N lost the plot totally crying and pointing to the toast on the other side of the room....now there is an incentive to MOVE BABY!!

    - ha, ha, maybe we could borrow a few LOL !!!!!!

and if it rolls away from him he just yells for me to bring it back...
...oh gosh, they are funny creatures arent they. I burst out laughing when reading this...

Pregpan i know its hard finding time, but i reckon if you did what you did today with N for 10-15 mins a day he would be crawling in a week. Listen to me - as if do it !!! I should though, youve given me some inspiration, i think i might start tomorrow....

Yep i know MBear - I do it each day, after work... and more on weekends and my day off... i am seeing progress, today was real progress... let's all do that for 30 mins a day and see where we get to...
btw my gf who is a dr told me crawling is 1 milestone that has NO link to intelligence...

    Good job Noah !! Yay......

Sam has a rotten cold, so crawling or attempting to crawl isnt something on her ' to do' list ATM.....we shake our head now when music comes on.............does that count ????....it was a big deal in our house anyway....
