Unhappy Day 5 and still no poo

    Looking for some advice please

Aiden is usually a poo a day baby! He is boobie fed and has one meal of solids daily for the last month.... but now he hasn't poo'd for 5 days! he doesn't appear to be in much pain - a little grizzly maybe.. I tried a little water (with a tiny bit of brown sugar), infants friend and prune juice ........... we have some small little mushy carmel poo (which that they smealt like carmel!) buds - but thats it. I am getting a little concerned that I should take him to the doctors.......... Do any of you lovely ladies have any advice?

    thanking you all in advance

    is he farting?
if bubs is then its not likely constipation, may be look at the food he has been eating? it might be slowing him down( bananas are good for that)

If he's only on one solids feed a day he could still have a couple of days between poos which is common for breastfed bubs. If the poo is soft when he does it and not hard and dry then he's probably not constipated.

What are you feeding him? Rice cereal can bind then up, so can banana.
Fruit such as apple or pear can help with constipation if you think it may be constipation.

I have been told, that it's VERY common for breastfed babies to go without pooping for around 10 days. I freaked out the first time DS did this, but was all ok in the end. He was also a poo a day baby. LOL
It is probably the fact that now that your bub is a little more active, everything that he eats, he requires for energy. I have always though of poo to be an excess of energy that your body doesn't really require ( especially in babies) but correct me if I am wrong.
If he is still having plenty of wet nappies and is pretty normal and happy, he should be fine.
I would give it another 5-6 days, and then call you MCHN.
If you are still worried, give you MCHN a call

    Hi ya ladies,

    firslty thank you for replying

ellibugs & Raven I have been feeding him - apple, pear and mango (I had read that nanna can block them up!)... and he is still farting - there have been some soft little follow throughs after he has farted!

~*Niadla*~ Yep he still has wet nappies and seems pretty happy! Wow 10 days that would have freaked me out too!! I have an appt with MCHN on Monday for his check up so if he hasn't gone properly then I will ask her about it!!

    Cheers ladies
