Day sleep/wake time for 4 month old

Just wondering how long your bub is awake for during the day and how long he/she sleeps for during the day at the 4 to 5 month stage? My DD seems to wake at night if she has too much sleep during the day but recently she is only getting about 4 hours sleep in total (always a 2hr then a bit of other here and there). I thought they would need more??

According to the Karitane chart, they need 2-3 x 2 hour day sleeps (from 4.5 - 6 months). So your DD sounds spot on.

DS still has more day sleeps than that (usually 4) - but they are short (this past week they have each only been 40 mins, but prior to that, he was doing 2 x 40mins + 2 x 2hours).

From memory, DD was having three sleeps a day of varying length. Her big one was either first thing (around 9am) or the afternoon sleep (around 1pm), then a little nap(around 4pm). But at 4 months she started becoming more wakeful overnight, and it really didn't make a difference how much sleep she had in the day. She'd wake at least three times a night. Lots of people said if they sleep better during the day, they'll sleep better at night (because they're nice and relaxed and not overtired). This didn't really ring true for us until she was a bit older. Now (she is 16 months) it seems to be the case for us.
I think every baby is different, and if your bubs seems happy and healthy, then she's probably getting enough.
My friend with a 5mo has him awake for 1.5 hours, then puts him to bed again. That's their routine - it doesn't necessarily matter to her what time the sleeps are, IYKWIM.
HTH a little. Keep following your instincts - I'm sure you're doing a great job

My little girl will have a 2 hour sleep after her early morning feed (7.30am) (put to bed at 8.00am) then she'll wake and just catnap after her mid morning feed (half hour), she'll sleep for about an hour in the afternoon but that's about it. She's never been a day sleeper. She has her last feed though at 8.30pm and will sleep right through the night until 7.30am, only stirring about once but will go back to sleep.

It's hard to get things done through the day when she doesn't sleep but I would rather sleep right through at night IYKWIM...all babies are different.
