I found the answer! A day/night clock... I had no idea they existed until someone mentioned it in this thread.
He came to my room at 8 this morning and said - I see the sun and get up mummy!

DAY 2
5.10am I got up to go to the bathroom, DD sounds asleep
5.30am DD starts coughing, I lie there listening to her
5.40am DD calls out to me, I go in there and she has a little cry, I tell her it's too early and it's all dark outside, reminded her she is a big girl now and she doesn't get up until it's light. I said I will lie down next to her cot for a while, but she is to lie down and rest with her "birdie" ... After 10 mins I get up and tell her mummy is a big girl too and as it's all dark I'm going back to my bed until it's light. give her a cuddle and walk out of the room and close the door. DD cries for about 45seconds and then goes quiet.
6.40am DD calls out Daddy/Mummy it's all light, come and get me
I think that's pretty successful, I do want to try the gro clock though as I think that will help her. I think she would have stayed in there longer but she had the coughing fit this morning. I am proud of her, didn't ask for milkies and I know she understands the concept.

I got it from baby bunting, we made a big deal about him being a big boy with a big boy clock etc etc... And it worked, hopefully it continues like this. I didn't need to get up at all and no discussions in the middle of the night.
Obviously pick a realistic time for her. I know DS wakes anytime between 7:15 and 7:40, and I like to sleep till 8, so I went with 8am.
I think he likes it bc he feels like he's in charge of looking at it and getting up by himself. I made it all very positive this morning! Good Luck! You're definitely making progress though.
5.40am DD woke up and called out to us, I went in and explained once again about her being a big girl and I laid down next to her for 5 minutes, when I got up to leave she let out a little cry, once again by the time I came back from the toilet she had stopped, At 6.30 she started calling out for mummy and daddy, I let her go until 6.45am.
We are going to baby bunting today to buy the gro clock, so will be interesting to see if that changes anything as I feel like we have come to a stand still, I would love for her to be in bed until 6.45am / 7.00 before we get up for her. But hey, we are much better than we were a few days ago.
That's awesome Connie! I got my gro clock today, we talked about it on the way to the shop and will have a big convo tonight, can't wait to see what happens tomorrow. Keep me updated with your progress!
OK, we got the gro clock - Best investment EVER!!!! DD woke up at 6.00 and said, stars are still up birdie and then laid in her cot and talked to herself until 6.35 and then started calling out, we didn't go in until we heard the MUMMY / DADDY SUNS UP!!! WAKE UP!!!! and we both went in there singing and dancing and making a huge deal about how she slept in So proud of her, might move the sun to come up at 6.30... Can't wait to see what happens over the next few days. I feel like I don't know myself at the moment and the days just don't feel so long and I think it's helping my morning sickness too as I am not so tired.

We had another good morning. He heard DH go to the toilet at 7:50, and called out 'I'm waiting for the sun daddy', DH called back, well done mate. Hahahaha once the sun came up, he was at our bedroom door - 8am.
Today we had our niece's birthday and he was telling everyone about his clock.
I'm glad to see you got the gro clock. I just saw this thread and, reading the opening post was gonna suggest one, but I've seen you now have it. Since having hers DD1 hasn't called our early after the first morning!
Ok, so a grow clock might be on the cards for us too!
Red gum - think we have the same EDD...27th Dec? I started in the Jan BB thread as I didn't know my exact EDD and don't want to move now that I know the lovely ladies in there

@Chody, gosh I am in love with this Gro Clock, I want to shout it in every forum known to man, still can't believe I didn't know about it until now.
@JLeigh, Wow! Congratulations hun - yeah jump over into the December group. It's a great group of girls and now you know me I had a look in your thread today and you had a plan in place last night - how did you go??? You should definitely give gro clock a try

Day 5
DD woke up and started calling out at 6.10am, I did hear her coughing around 4.30 but she went back to sleep, every day is getting later and later and later and we are really sticking to not going in there until the "sun comes up". I am so proud of her, it's made a huge difference in our household not getting up at the crack of dawn. I would love it if she could just hang in there until 6.35 before calling out, I just need to keep on reminding her to not call out until the sun is up I suppose. We talk about what a big girl she is during the day.
