I think it depends on the individual child. DD was 2.5 when we bought Alex home and their bedrooms were right next door to one another. She would sleep through anything, even when he was going though a phase of having night terrors that consisted of 45 mins of screaming. She is a fantastic little sleeper, I think you could drop a bomb on her and she would sleep through it! DS on the other hand is a light sleeper and is easily woken by noise from his sister, so it is her that has to tiptoe around when he is asleep. Oh well cant win em all!

Our newborn is waking our toddler up at night At first Nina would wake to every noise Emily made, but the last 2 nights have been better and Nina has only woken once. I'm hoping Nina will get use to the noise and start sleeping through again.

Same here.....toddler woke the (then) newborn. Still happens now......during daytime naps, the older ones tend to wake the young one.

I havent brought my baby home as yet lol, but i have bought a child monitor which i will put in the baby's room and close the door so that she doesnt wake DS during the night, but ill be able to hear her wake up via the monitor.

Same here, im sure after awhile DD will get used to her brother crying and he will get used to her making noise in the day. I found with DD when she was a baby to not tip toe around her and she would sleep through anything so hopeing it will be the same for DS when I bring him home with DD running around etc.

#1 was 20 months old when I had #2. They shared a room and it was no problem. Neither one woke the other. I was always surprised how noisy the older one could be before the younger would even flinch.
