It's never done any harm to my DD who I've been giving it to since she was 2 (she's now a healthy 4 yr old!)
I'd say it's fine, especially if a Dr has prescribed it

According to the bottle, yes, and in fact I'm pretty sure I've had a GP say to use it also. It is now only available on script for under 2yos, as it has been shown to have potentially serious side effects in infants, and the research also indicates that no cough/cold medicine is effective in children under 12. So in all likelihood it will do no harm and no good either!

I saw a pediatrician yesterday and they said the new rules dimetapp is great for children 2 and up under 2 you can get a script, but it will really help them fight flu/cold and sickness.

I am currently using it on my 2 year old and brilliant differnce in him in 48 hours.

    Good luck.
