Ok, we have been struggling to get day sleeps. But the last couple of days DD has been playing happily, no signs what so ever of being sleepy then she rolls her self over onto her tummy and goes to sleep. Just now it was on her activity matt in the middle of the lounge beside where I was wrapping presents. I tried to move her to her bed but she just cries and won't resettle.
So, do you leave your baby where he/she has fallen asleep or move them to their place of sleeping?
If it was a day sleep and she wont settle after you stir her, personally I would let her be. For the past few weeks DD will only go to sleep in her pram, we put her in her cot after about 2 hours once she is in a deeper sleep otherwise she will wake up and not go back to sleep if we try to move her strait away. So cute your little Bub crashing out on the floor
My little one falls asleep during the day on her activity mat as well, she will be playing happily and then fall asleep when she is tired. I just leave her be as she must be happy to sleep there.
Day sleeps, yeah, I leave her go wherever she falls lol At night though she falls asleep in bed while I give her a bottle, then I pop her in her cot a few hours later when I go to bed. She sometimes wakes up and when she realises it's dark, she just goes back to sleep, but during the day I know she'd be like, 'Ooh, playtime' haha.
OMG, yes, leave her!!! I have a DD who struggles with day sleeps and I would give anything to see her just nod off on her play mat or in her rocker. It's never happened and probably never will!
I normally do leave her sleep because they are soo rare. But the other day DH managed to get her to have a 3hr day sleep 2 days in a row. Once on our bed and the other in her cot. When she is on her matt she only sleeps for 20mins or so. Hence me trying to move her cos she seemed totally deep in sleep. Never again lol
Yep, I leave AR wherever she's gone to sleep, for that reason - they can look like they are out for the count, but when you pick them up....
As Glamourcide said though, different at night, I move her then.
With DD1 i always moved her but she never really woke and wouldn't settle again so if it's whats working for now and she's getting long enough then i guess go with it BUT my cousin and his wife did this with their little boy and he would only do cat naps and wouldn't sleep properly in his cot AT ALL.
Their issue was his room was upstairs and it was easier letting him sleep where he wanted but it become a real PITA for them and they eventually had to basically start afresh to get him sleeping in his cot whether it be day or night.
Is there any way you can gauge how long it is before she falls asleep? Is it always about 20min etc, maybe you could use this time as a rough guide and maybe give her a cuddle around this mark and then put her into bed?
Not sure... hope either way she has decent sleeps for you.
For what it is worth my little girl always fell asleep on her mat during the day. I didnt try and move her very often because she didn't mind sleeping with all the general noise and activity of the house around her and I think this was a good thing to encourage. I never have to tippy toe around the house when she is asleep.
Pip used to do this, but I learnt to recognise his "tired signs". I'd put him in his rocker thingy facing a window as watching the leaves would zone him out. When he fell asleep, I'd just move the rocker into his room and close the door. He'd be straped in so couldn't fall etc, and for him it was akin to wrapping, he just couldn't move so may as well sleep IYKWIM?
