Do You Still Lift Your 2-year-old much?

We only carry Miss 3 when we're out. She often needs lifting up onto toilets, we don't carry our step with us. Sometimes you just want to cross a road fast, or she gets tired out shopping and we wind up carrying her. We only have one pram and the baby is in it.

Otherwise, she's a little monkey and has been doing everything herself for ages. She's just got tall enough to open all our doors so there's another thing on the independant list.

Thanks for all your responses. Soon after writing this, DD2 has suddenly wanted to be picked up lots

I think my plan might be to wait until I don't have multiple flashes per day of "I couldn't do this if I were pregnant" and leave the fertility gamble in the lap of the gods.

I still lift my big 4 yo a lot. But if I am carrying shopping or something and I simply can't then he understands. So if I had a second child I think he would have been well past it now due to necessity. I think she would have an adjustment period and then would be fine with it all.

Yep, just to clarify. With DD1 it wasn't about her wanting to be picked up and me not being able to. It was more about her running off, having screaming tanties on the floor and me HAVING to physically lift her. She never asked to be picked up because I did it so rarely from the word go.
