Does this much water sound excessive? Plus the need to drink water overnight..

fwiw i was never a water drinker but just b4 i was diagnosed i was drinking about 5-6 litres a day plus a min of 2 litres of soft drink a day.

its not pleasant constantly needing to drink and go to the loo!! i wouldnt speak unless i needed to because my tongue would stick to the roof of my mouth if i hadnt had a drink for about 10 mins. it was horrible!

Hi skybie, I find out the results tomorrow, so I am anxious for that to come around quickly. She was also tested for other things like iron etc , it was a very horrible experience for me as she had to have a blood test and I had to hold her, they couldnt find her tiny little veins and the first time didnt work so they had to try the other arm, DD was screaming, it tore my heart to pieces, one of the nurses came in to help and she said to DD oh it will be over soon you dont have to carry on, if I hadnt have been so angry with her comment i would have been crying. Poor thing sobbed for half an hour after. Then they ring me today and say that they managed to get all the tests completed form the small amount of blood they took except for the thyroid and they want her to go back again. I said I would talk to the doctor first and go from there.

I really do think its related to food additives and stuff but I wanted to rule out all medical stuff before hand. She also has an appointment with a paed just to have a good check. Thanks for asking xoxo

It does sound like a lot of water! DD sometimes drains a 260ml bottle during the course of the night, but during the day she doesn't drink as much as I would like. N seems to be having a lot! Definitely get her checked out for diabetes so you can cross it off assuming everything's OK.
on the TT front Vic! Great work. From what I have read most bubs are still in nappies overnight until nearer to 3 so I wouldn't worry about that.

Hey girls, sorry for not popping in sooner,

We took DD to the Dr's and yes it is quite a bit of water, but at the moment we can't do a lot as she still has an infection, we took her to the Dr's last Saturday to ask and she had an upper respiratory infection, so had to wait then took her today as she wasn't improving, last night she threw up in her sleep and rolled through it was not so much fun to clean up at 1am. Dr checked her today and her ears has gotten a lot worse, and she has given us a prescription if she develops a fever. Good thing for her it is staying out of her lungs

But back to the subject at hand

Once she is over the infection, we take her for a Finger ***** Test, to see what her levels are, and a urinary concentration test where we collect the urine over a period of 24 hours (we had to do this while she was in hospital dehydrated and one bag a day was tricky, let alone over a 24 hours period.

In the meantime we offer her less water, so only partially fill her water bottles and see if she complains for more. But while she has been sick her intake has been a lower so we will see what happens when she is better.

Ya my advise would be Blood Glucose Test to confirm, My cousin had type 1 and found out at the age of 3 as he was drinking so much fluid.
