When DS was about 3, he went over the top of his bike handle bars and straight down a gravel hill on his face. 1 Entire side of his face was torn/gravel rashed off (all skin gone completely) after hospital scrubbed all the gravel out, I kept up with Vit E oil several times a day and now 10 or so years later he only has the tiniest little scar on top of his lip you really need to look to see and his beauty spot that used to be just under his nose is now just above his top lip. I think, going by how bad it was, without the vit E oil, he definately would have had bad scarring! I always keep a small bottle of it handy (keeps wrinkles away too! ) FWIW.. He also lost the top of his knee down to the bone (in the same akko) and only used a cream the hospital advised but that has major scarring!

Definitely leave the scab alone. Wait till the new skin grows but be careful of oils directly on the area. It can keep it a bit wet.
