Hi my 9 wk old is havign his 2 mth immunizatins today I just wanted to ask how oterh bubs reacted to this? Do they seem more unsettled after it - even days after? Or do some actually sleep more? Did you use panadol and if so was it before the jab or after?

My DD was upset must of the day would only sleep in my arms over my shoulder, so this is how I spent the day lucky she would let me sit down once she was asleep. Gave her panadol one during the day (just for the pain), then at around midnight has she had a fever. The next couple of day she slept a lot.

With the second lot she just sleep more.

We had no problems with that lot... it was the 6 month needles DD reacted quite badly too.

Hi, I know there is varying information around, and we dont immunise, but I believed you were not supposed to give panadol before the shots to check for any reactions??

My almost 9 week old is being done today too, I just came on the net to look for the same thing about panadol. I think I'll wait to see if he needs it.

Harley n co. Our experience with immunisations has been just fine. At Natalie's 2 month shots, she was unsettled in the afternoon and refused a sleep. We gave her Panadol at lunchtime, lots of cuddles and breastfeeds, then Panadol at bedtime (around 6pm) and she slept the night through. She has never had reactions (as in fever) to the injections, only sore legs with little bruises. She hasn't been really unsettled after either the 4 or 6 month ones. I still hate them, of course LOL. My advice would be if you are upset, take your DH or mum or friend or whatever along with you if you can Hope it all goes well for you today.
ETA: I always wait to give Panadol too - I believe it is pretty fast-acting...

When my daughter got her 2 month immunisations, she was a bit cranky immediately afte them (as you would expect!) and a little unsettled for about an hour but then slept for 3 hours straight after that. I didnt give her any panadol though.

I wouldn't give panadol before, just have it on hand for after if it is required. I needed it once with one son, and once with the other son (can't remember which vax, I think the 4 months one). I prefer not to give medication that is not necessarily.

I think after the 2 months ones, both my boys slept a lot. They were more unsettled after the 4 month ones. But all kids are different.

All the best sweetie, I think the first time is the hardest for the mums!

Thanks everyone! Well of course he was fine - screamed initially but settled quickly. He has been pretty normal today - normal for him is a bit grizzly and cat naps!!! Havent needed panadol - so far so good!!! Glad its over!
