dry skin on week old baby

Just wondering if its normal for a newborn to have dry skin that peels off?
I moisturise him with Gaia baby as often as i can but it doesnt go away?
its mainly on his feet and hand creases?
Is there something else i should be doing or using something different?
    thanks

Yes perfectly normal If bub was even a little slightly overdue they can get dry skin as well.

It will go away soon once baby gets used to the outside world

My eldest son had very dry skin like that and i just used a little bit of baby oil in his bath

yep v normal. Noah had this (he was born at 39 wks as well) and it got worse before it got better (one day we woke up and it was all over his body). Ppl recommended sorbolene but this didnt work for us, it made it worse. i was also using Gaia and this didnt help... now we use Dermaveen in his bath and a few drops of olive oil in his bath and this helped and it has completely gone now (but we still use Dermaveen and olive oil). I think it cleared up mainly by 2 weeks and completely by 3. Best of luck - there are so many things to think about arent there!!!

Alister was very dry when he was born and I used sorbolene in hospital because that's all there was, but when we got home I used an organic body cream on him. He still has dry patches on his feet though but the rest is good now. Put some on with eveyr nappy change and don't go overboard with the baths as the water can dry them out more.

Jesse lost a layer of skin from head to toe after he was born. He was just 2 days over. Not much you can do, apart from baby oil or sorbelene and just waiting for it to peel off. Very normal and doesnt effect bubs what so ever.

Milla also peeled - it looked like we had left her out sunbaking for a day on the beach!! It started with hands and feet (which were quite dry and scaley at birth), but after a few days her belly, back and legs were also peeling. She left dry flakes of skin over us after every feed or cuddle... It was all gone by about the third week and now she's all pink and chubbly (although has a few hormone pimples!)

Completely normal. We just dabbed olive oil on the dry spots and used our hands to rub it over so it wasn't too greasy. Worked a treat.
