I think you can get some sleepsuits that have TOG ratings like the sleeping bags, but would still allow him to have his legs 'free'.

Thanks for the replies. I will try the layering idea first as I have to hunt around for a better bigger sleeping bag.![]()
You can get Babylegs or huggalugs...they are like legwarmers for babies.
Charlotte is the same, so I got a heap of those and she loves them - she can get around and move and not get tangles in her sleeping bag...when she was small though I put her in the sack like grobags...![]()
I think you can get really warm jumpsuits? And they wear their pyjamas underneath.
My DD didnt' wear a sheet or blanket until 4 years old! She always had what we called a "lamby suit". You can now get similar ones at Target, they are all in one but allow baby to walk and use legs. I would put layers underneath and knew she was warm enough. DD 2 has a sheet (no blanket allowed) and it comes off every night anyway. xo
I'd probably perservere with the sleeping bag for a few nights . . . it's obviously a new sensation for him, but he might get used to it after a few nights. Kai has always had bags for cooler nights and I found them great. Now that he's getting a bit big for them, we've introduced a quilt. It's not tucked in, so he doesn't feel restrained in anyway, but it seems to (mostly) stay on now. The first few nights he just crawled out from under it. I figure once he's used to being under something we'll try sheets/blankets or maybe straight to a duvet (doona!), coz he might go into a bed soonish.
Hope that helps!
You can get big fleecy jumpsuits from best and less and i have seen them at target called big softies. They zip up and are very warm. They are also big enough to fit pjs underneath. I got them for $20 each. Happy hunting
