Lately Lily has been falling over alot. She's not tripping on anything, just falls over. Like she loses balance or tripping on her own feet or something. She does this like 15 times a day, or more. The poor thing has cuts, grazes and bruises all up her legs and feet because of it. Is this something i should be worried about at all?
I know this will sound awful, but if my boys were doing the same thing, i would be getting them checked. It may just be a middle ear infection, which affects their balance. I hope Its something simple
Gemma also does this alot Tegan. Her legs from the knees down are covered in scratches and bruises too. I think Gemma is just clumsy. She just trips on nothing as well.
Tegan, I would consider a trip to your GP, just to get her ears checked out. Often they can have a middle ear infection that throws their balance out something shocking. Best get it checked sooner rather than later.
This has been going on for a couple of months now. But today was the worst. She fell over 3 times in 10 minutes and now has a cut on her foot and two huge sores on her knee. Her legs are basically black from all the bruises. I'm ringing the GP tomorrow to get her in. But it takes like a week to get in there because its always full. If it is an ear infection, it may also explain her delayed speech.
Teagan,
Eliza is so much like Lily she has delayed speach aswell as the clumbiest child I have ever seen she trips on air sometimes. I booked her into a ENT today because I'm so worried about her balance. I'm pretty sure they are going to have to restrain her to get near her. It is frustrating tho I'm sure her Daycare thinks we neglect her

hehe Trish, nah its ok. They know me so well there i am sure they'll let us in. I have been going there since before i was born! My GP was my mum's career in her pregnancy with me. Makes me feel old really!
Ah, gottcha! Well i am just hoping it is not serious. Maybe she is like me. I had glue eye when i was little and kept getting ear infections.(is it genetic?) Went on antibiotics, got off them and then had to go back on them again over and over. Eventually i got grommets and it fixed it right up but i dont think you can get them until your 3 because they do it under general. I remember being told i would fall over alot too.
I'm not sure if its genetic but DH has little ear canals and has to see a specialist to get them cleared so I'm hoping something may turn up. Although she can understand everything, I'm kinda clutching at straws before having to go to a speech therapist

Finally got someone to see her this arvo. She doesn't have an ear infection. So i'm going to get her hearing checked. Will ring up tomorrow. Let you know how that goes.
BTW when Matilda gets overtired she trips heaps. So some days are worse than other normally clumsy days. Toddlers are often ahead of themselves & fall more, but some days when she hasn't slept well at night she is clumsy the entire day... falling all over herself. HTH!
Tegan i think you'll find a lot of toddlers fall over at Lily's age. Kimberley used to fall over all the time when walking for no reason at all. It's something that she just grew out of and also she was slow in talking.
